Overview

Talis Biomedical is looking for a talented Scrum Master to join our Software development team. You’ll lead an Agile development team creating healthcare applications using the latest technologies. You’ll manage the success of each iteration, coach team members on Agile principles, and help the team to refine processes to increase efficiencies and deliver well-polished software.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize a Servant-Leadership style to lead a software development team using Agile.
  • Manage the success of each iteration and challenge the team to refine processes to increase efficiencies and deliver working software every iteration.
  • Help team understand, implement, and adapt Agile practices, and ensure that projects follow those practices. Coach Agile practices.
  • Guide the team through planning and collaborative delivery of prioritized performance improvement opportunities, stakeholder management and scope management.
  • Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies including daily standups, grooming sessions, sprint planning, demos, release planning, retrospectives, etc.
  • Address and resolve conflicts and barriers that impede progress. As appropriate, raise issues and report risks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and drive product quality and software development velocity.
  • Partner with product owners and software business analyst to ensure requirements are understood and met by team.
  • Partner with project managers to ensure priorities are maintained and milestones are met.
  • Transparently and pro-actively communicate project status, including risks and dependencies, to project management and leadership.
  • Build communication and collaboration within the team and across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

THIS POSITION IS EITHER BASED IN MENLO PARK OR IS REMOTE. IF REMOTE, TRAVEL IS 20-25%.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience/degree.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Scrum Master for Agile software development teams across full lifecycle projects.
  • Ability to work with and lead a team. Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, self-motivate, and stay focused.
  • Deep understanding of agile principles such as estimating, backlog grooming, burndown metrics, velocity, and capacity planning.
  • Medical Device industry experience desired.
  • Jira competency a plus.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services is a plus.
  • Agile and Scrum certifications a plus (CSM, PSM, CSP-SM, SAFe).
