    Malibu Boats, the world’s leading towboat manufacturer, is looking for a self-motivated and detail oriented Purchasing Manager to join our team!

    As Purchasing Manager in support of make-to-order manufacturing operations, you will be managing all facets of the purchasing activity for boat, trailer and engine production as well as scheduling new production. By leading a team of 5-10 professionals conducting and continuously improving all sourcing activities, vendor management, and material planning; including technology improvements in other facets of the business, and by working closely with associated departments including: production, engineering, supplier quality, inventory control and warehouse operations in multiple locations, you will oversee all source selection activities as well as supplier management and development. Your primary responsibilities will include master production scheduling, supply chain flow, accuracy, and optimization of all purchased direct and indirect materials.

    To be successful as Purchasing Manager for Malibu Boats, you should be a mentor and coach with proven success empowering and engaging team members through change and have experience in all aspects of managing people and ensure best use of assets by managing purchasing tempo, inventory levels, obsolete inventory, and supplier management activities while achieving high levels of customer satisfaction and performance excellence within multiple aspects of supply chain activities.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • A minimum of a BA/BS in supply chain, business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred) degree requirement may be waived with additional years of experience;
    • A minimum of 10 years of relevant supply chain management experience.

    Qualifications:

    • Understanding and execution using of ERP/MRP, Planning, Purchasing, Warehousing and Inventory Control principles and concepts.
    • Supervisory skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing people directly.
    • Supply Chain (purchasing, warehouse, inventory, and planning) experience supporting a highly custom, medium or higher volume, manufacturing operation.
    • Ability to read and interpret business documents and data.
    • Ability to make calculations such as discounts, freight estimates, dimensional weight, invoices, and percentages.
    • Knowledge of general business computer software and aptitude to learn new software applications.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Developing and implementing competitive sourcing and procurement activities for all direct and indirect materials; drive total cost of ownership analysis.
    • Oversight of all Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) for materials with various demands methods.
    • Analysis and implementation of approaches to optimize material planning, supplier execution, and inventory levels.
    • Customer Order and production scheduling / Master Production Schedule (MPS).
    • Identification, planning for, management and mitigation of risk elements within the supply chain.
    • Monitor and manage inventory levels both strategically and tactically in conjunction with other assets.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to expand the value delivered.
    • Collaborate cross functionally to address forecast needs (including sales, new parts, inter-company transfers) and implement approaches both strategically and tactically.
    • Develop and execute recovery plans (immediate, short and long term) when necessary to mitigate impact to manufacturing operations when suppliers are unable to meet the demands of the company.
    • Management and development of the purchasing team.
    • Communicate supply position and provide situational awareness to internal customers.
    • Prepare and report performance metrics relating to suppliers as well as individual, department and internal activities.
    • Execute as necessary when supply situations dictate as having been escalated by buyers.
    • Function as buyer for strategic items as needed.
    • Work together with other assets in the company to manage Item Master Setup, BOM, configuration and MO creation per engineering change process and production schedules.
    • Collaborate within the organization to execute and optimize: new product development; product engineering changes; production engineering changes; quality; material handling.
    • Vendor management – mitigate risk through the supply chain through vendor development; expanding vendor bases, evaluation and qualification, problem resolution and vendor termination in conjunction with Quality Programs.
    • Develop analytical tools and reports for materials planning, buyers and others as required.
    • Identify, collaborate cross-functionally, implement, and measure cost-reduction and value add opportunities.
    • Contract management, including developing and negotiating terms and conditions, annual vendor reps and certs, supplier code of conduct, and other required documents.
    • Subject matter expert for MRP/ERP system’s inventory, purchasing and some production control and manufacturing modules.
    • Provides training, mentoring, guidance and audit activities within department.
    • Establish, implement and maintain policies, processes, procedures and practices relating to procurement functions.
    • Establish, maintain, and provide training to team members and cross-functionally on purchasing and planning.
