Title: Operations Manager & Chief of Staff to COO of Cannabis Company
Job Description:
Oversee day-to-day manufacturing, processing, & retail operations of growing multi-state operational cannabis business and support Chief Operating Officer in his role to efficiently operate and expand business.
Responsibilities:
General Management
- Create and manage project plans for ongoing workstreams e.g., new state applications, facility buildouts, hiring & training, retail operations, etc.
- Develop, implement, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) and processes
- Manage and collaborate with outsourced vendors
- FP&A
- Bookkeeping
- Technology
- Human Resources
- Review financials for accuracy and support monthly close and budgeting process
- Conduct vendor due diligence and negotiate pricing
- Build and maintain reporting tools for CEO
- Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
Sales Operations
- Develop and implement a sales strategy with clearly defined KPIs, targets, and goals
- Identify underperforming operations and develop an improvement plan to manage issues effectively
- Manage budget and monitor/track SKU-level performance to ensure optimal sales & gross margins
- Work with store managers and brand ambassadors against their KPI goals e.g., sales productivity
Operations Management
- Oversee inventory management within retail stores and manage inventory levels
- Assist in approval and processing of bi-weekly payroll
- Support creation of weekly sales and inventory reports
- Standardize SOPs and policies to ensure customer satisfaction and employee productivity
- Schedule regular store visits and audits, ensuring adequate staffing, optimal inventory levels, and exemplary customer service and holding each location accountable for performance
- Facilitate annual performance review process for managers, and propose salary increases/individual bonus incentives
Who You Are:
- You have strong business and operational acumen with at least 4 years of relevant experience
- Based in either Hartford, CT or New York, NY (can be remote in special circumstances, but must be willing to travel).
- A strong communicator in any medium: in-person, over the phone, in emails, etc.
- Possess strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills. Proactive, resourceful, and instinctive, with a natural ability to solve problems and seek new information.
- A self-starter with the ability to thrive in an incredibly fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous work environment.
- Possess extreme attention to detail, a sense of urgency, reliability, and commitment to mastering your work.
- You demonstrate strong judgment in your decision making and have exceptional time management and prioritization skills; youâre able to see the âbig pictureâ and the details.

Expected Salary:
Commensurate with experience. Hartford. Can be remote Northeast-based in special circumstances, but must be willing to travel.
