The Mortgage Banker is the financial intermediary between Berkadia’s borrower clients, the Company’s internal capital sources, and third-party capital sources that the Company represents while fostering reliable and effective communications to enhance the likelihood that the parties will reach agreement on financing terms.
Responsibilities
- Satisfy the annual performance goals for originating loan transactions established by the EVP with primary supervision of the Mortgage Banking Group (or his/her designee).
- Act as a financial intermediary between the Company’s borrower clients and the Company’s internal capital sources and third-party capital sources that the Company represents; foster reliable and effective communications to enhance the likelihood that the parties will reach agreement on a financing terms.
- Advise borrower clients as to the advantages and disadvantages of different financial products available through the Company’s internal capital sources and third-party capital sources that Analyze financial and property-performance information and pre-screen borrower qualifications so that the resources of the Company’s internal and third-party capital-source clients are devoted only to financing opportunities that meet lending parameters established by the capital source.
- Prepare loan submission packages that meet the requirements of the Company’s internal and third- party capital sources; make recommendations on the credit risk of the transaction when appropriate.
- Keep current as to market and industry trends to provide reliable market intelligence or local color about the markets in which the Company and its clients may do business.
- Report requested data in the Company’s Pipeline tracking systems as soon as possible to ensure that the Company’s transaction-related information is up-to-date, accurate, reliable and available for reporting obligations on a timely basis.
- Perform mortgage banking services in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures and applicable license requirements; assist the Law Department with reports due to regulators; participate in audits as necessary.
- Assist with servicing matters upon request, including inspections, re-appraisals, delinquency resolutions and workouts.
- Perform related tasks and responsibilities from time to time assigned by the EVP with primary supervision of the Mortgage Banking Group (or his designee).
Skills and Compliance
- Adhere to Berkadia’s policies and exhibit proficiency and understanding of Berkadia’s Values and position-specific skills.
- Must be able to analyze market trends, financial information, credit circumstances and risks to originate commercial financing opportunities that will perform and deliver positive returns.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
