Head of Phenomics

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Head of Phenomics, are to:

  • Leading multiple teams of scientists in designing and executing studies aimed at solving complex phenotypic and environmental based Breeding problems;
  • Serving as a thought leader for truly innovative ideas for long term impact on product development and placement;
  • Partnering with other functions working on genome design, precision breeding, phenomics and data science to ensure collaborative development of tools and techniques;
  • Contributing as a member of APD initiative teams working on multiple Global Breeding strategy areas;
  • Developing strong partnerships with other teams in Global Breeding and Biotechnology to ensure broad utility and impact of results;
  • Developing a broad knowledge of global internal and external advances and plans pertaining to new breeding methodologies and tools Identify and lead efforts around Breeding precision placement strategies and testing footprint.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Applied Statistics/Biometrics, Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics, Bioinformatics, or a related field with 10 years of experience;
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the development and implementation of new strategies in emerging research areas;
  • 4+ years in leading technical teams dealing with image, geospatial and environmental data;
  • Extensive knowledge of state of the art analytical/statistical techniques;
  • Demonstrated track record of solving challenging and complex problems;
  • Experience in method development and the ability to define and implement desired technical strategies;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in experimental field plot design and analysis, preferably with Breeding or agronomic data;
  • Exceptional leadership, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills will be required to negotiate scope/resources, manage, and project status, and synchronize activities with team members, stakeholders, and management.

Relocation may be offered for this role.
