Futures Brokerage – Assistant Vice President

The Futures Brokerage AVP provides expert guidance and informal leadership to an operations team in support of third party brokerage settlement within the global futures Income and Expense (I&E) organization. I&E is responsible for accruing, receiving, paying, and managing rate exceptions of brokerage commissions on behalf of clients, counterparties, regulatory agencies, and Citi’s futures business. Due to Citi’s global scale, growing business, and continually changing regulatory and political environments, the need to adapt and implement change via new or re-designed processes has never been more important. As a result, the Futures Brokerage AVP will shape and execute on the strategic vision of the organization, aligning more junior team members to our organizational goals and inspiring them to achieve to their fullest potential. Our initiatives span functions, teams, and systems but all place a premium on low-touch, risk mitigating, systemically responsible, and scalable solutions. The role requires frequent interaction with industry forums, counterparties, and internal senior stakeholders to drive change and reduce the age of outstanding brokerage. Communication, execution, and leadership are key to success.


Major Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Team Manager and senior Operations leadership to shape and drive I&E strategy.
  • Act as a trusted adviser and key subject matter expert to the Team Manager.
  • Train, oversee, and motivate junior team members to achieve their fullest potential.
  • Communicate a roadmap and status of strategic work via written and oral presentation.
  • Execute and deliver prioritized work at agreed upon times.
  • Establish a strong network in adjacent areas and counterparty firms to assist in overcoming challenges.
  • Establish a strong presence in the industry and represent Citi in industry-wide brokerage forums.
  • Assess industry changes and identify impacts to I&E.
  • Understand and communicate our outstanding brokerage profile and adjust resources to improve.
  • Monitor and manage internal and external escalations regarding outstanding brokerage.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Prior project management or related experience required.
  • Solid working knowledge of basic accounting principles like payables, receivables, balance sheets, profit and loss.
  • Familiarity with Futures and Options products and lifecycles.
  • Strong communication and collaborative abilities as the role requires interaction with onsite, regional, and global teams inside and outside of the organization.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to engage key stakeholders at regional and global forums.
  • Strong analytical ability to synthesize data and prioritize emerging risks and priorities.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple high priority initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills and a desire to lead.
