About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Owner of the company, this role will be responsible for direct oversight of multiple departments, providing leadership, process improvements and establishment of operational metrics. Work closely with ownership with a roll up their sleeve’s mentality to leadership. The successful candidate will be a thoughtful leader, confident decision maker to focus people on development and productivity.
- Provide daily leadership and strengthen cross functional relationships; establish ongoing dialogue with employees to build trust, and gain engagement
- Drive significant change and adoption of new lean processes within our distribution operation to result in the measurable elimination of waste and improved margins.
- Drive improvement in our operating metrics with emphasis on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Identifies key opportunities to leverage and improve processes affecting the warehouse operation, including; defining appropriate metrics, and leading the process improvement and systems initiatives;
- Suggest and implement process improvements to the warehouse operating model to optimize the customer experience while reducing the number of touch points warehouse associates have with the customer packages.
- Influences organizational change, manage fulfillment and inventory accuracy improvement programs to support business growth.
- Performs management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.
- An active and strong contributor to the management team, he/she takes the lead in highlighting, developing and executing best in class solutions for our customers.
- Initiate and coordinate major projects (e.g. facility layout changes, installation of capital equipment, major repairs, etc.) including timelines, deliverables, cross-functional partnership management, measurement and communication
- Responsible for building and facilities maintenance and repairs
- Possess the intellect and communication skills to successfully implement change
- Develop clear goals for transformation using strategic goal alignment and deployment, accomplishing them in collaboration with management and staff
- Drive improvement in our operating metrics with emphasis on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related field.
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing multiple departments
- Previous work within a distribution business
- Excellent business acumen and strategic thinker;
- Strong understanding of operational logistics and warehouse process improvement.
- Prior experience with a labor union and union negotiations is strongly preferred; lease negotiation;
- Experience in a family owned business preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills;
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees;
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and experience using an ERP software, and analytical skill set.
