Chief Operating Officer
We are looking for a leader who has strong professionalism, integrity, dedication, technical abilities, and excellent people and communication skills. Being second-in-command within the company, absolute trust between the two executives is vital. The individual hired for this position will excel at improving the success of the organization financially while simultaneously improving the conditions and lives of their employees. NOVA’s established and diverse client base offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of project types. The leader of NOVA must lead from the front and not push from the back. To be clear, NOVA team members are not looking for a boss, but instead a true leader.
Essential Functions and Duties include:
- Through collaboration with other leaders in the organization, assist to develop a strategic plan for the organization and builds an outline of tactics to accomplish each plan element
- Functions and works within a C-Suite of focused and diligent team leaders, which may include but is not limited to a Chief Executive Officer, Chief HR Officer, a Chief Financial Officer, a Chief Operating Officer and a Chief of Staff
- Embodies the organization’s Culture of Kindness by helping to improve the attitudes, behaviors and values that the C-Suite desires for the organization’s employees to exhibit and then models those stances and ensures that other leaders support the organizational values in a similar fashion.
- Works closely with Organization Leadership to collaboratively ensure that other leaders support the organizational values to maintain NOVA’s Culture of Kindness
- Alongside the CEO, provides leadership at all times, including, but especially, in the event of a crisis
- Alongside the CEO, ensures the successful management of the business as a whole
- Develops, communicates and implements company plans and policies
- Communicates and strengthens relationships with equity and debt partners as required by all Operating Agreements, legal contracts and other arrangements to ensure trust and value remain fundamental to the NOVA backbone
- Reinforce NOVA’s Mission, Vision and Values through daily actions
- Overseeing day-to-day operations of Business Units and Technical Divisions, while keeping the CEO apprised of significant events
- Fosters employee alignment with corporate goals
- Serve as a steward of a safe and secure work environment for all NOVA employees
Qualified candidates will have:
- A technical background in Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, Environmental Science or Material Science
- A Higher Education degree in a relevant discipline i.e., Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, but may also include a MBA or other business-related degree if technical background requirement is also met
- A Commitment to Life-Long learning and a willingness to be taught and mentored by others
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent client relations and business development skills
- A working knowledge of computer programs i.e., Microsoft Office, Outlook.
- Valid driver’s license
