Global Business Development Description

The mandate of Global Business Development (GBD) team is to develop new vectors of growth through transformational partnerships that drive meaningful consumer value and scale. The GBD team drives these efforts forward by looking at opportunities with external partners across a wide spectrum of potential sectors, products and markets. The team is in search of a highly motivated Vice President to support the team in all aspects of business development.


Job Summary and Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be able to establish strong working relationships across Citi and manage multiple priorities on a day-to-day basis. Key functions of this role include: research and due diligence; deal ideation; drafting business proposals, pitch books, presentations and financial analysis; managing client follow-ups, escalations and meeting logistics; and adhering to Citi Risk and Control processes.

  • Actively participate in end-to-end deal execution, including preparation of internal strategy presentations, sales pitches, financial analysis, as well as managing client meeting administration and logistics.
  • Manage deal follow-ups and escalations in a professional and responsive manner.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships; respond to requests in a timely and professional manner and cultivate relationships with key decision makers.
  • Ideate on potential deals and draft business proposals; manage and expand the deal pipeline.
  • Conduct research on market insights, business opportunities, industry trends, and competitor intelligence; update the team and disseminate information in a concise yet comprehensive manner.
  • Work across business units and functional areas (i.e. Finance, Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations, etc.) to reach deal closure.
  • Adhere to Risk and Controls processes in strict adherence to Citi standards.
  • Work with and mentor Global Business Development analysts to create a compelling working environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external partners.
  • Travel: approximately 10-20%

    : develop client presentations and narratives for client meetings and engagements.

  • Research & Ideation
    : conduct thorough research on potential partnerships, clients and industries; independently develop potential opportunities and proposals.

  • Team Player
    : strong and effective team player. Highly adaptive and able to work in high-stress environments.

  • High Energy
    : a highly motivated and curious mind, someone who can work independently and is continuously challenging the status quo.

  • Experience
    : the ideal candidate will have 3 – 5 years of financial services experience, preferably in Business Development, Investment Banking or Consulting and with a background in the payments industry, consumer credit, digital commerce and/or fintech.
  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred.
