Cotter Consulting is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for future opportunities with career aspirations that are aligned with our goals to provide our clients with project teams that can deliver an adaptable selection of services suited to their specific needs and ensure their success. In our role as owner representatives, we provide services in the public and private sector markets, in both construction management and project management for commercial, public institutional, transportation, aviation, and utility markets.
The Assistant Project Manager will assist in a variety of areas including scheduling, quality management, design management, project accounting and contract administration. The APM will work collaboratively with clients and the project team and will support a Senior Project Manager. This is a career learning and building opportunity for the right candidate. A bachelorâs degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering is required. Experience of 3+ years in the private or institutional construction market sectors is a desired plus.
- Visiting job sites to monitor progress and conformance with job schedule;
- Assisting the PM by maintaining scheduling software and preparing schedules with activity sequencing;
- Assisting supervisory staff in reviewing project costs and monitoring budget;
- Preparing cost estimates;
- Learning the contractorâs billing and change order process and assisting with reviewing;
- Monitoring project conformance to plans, specifications, and applicable standards;
- Reviewing design and shop drawings;
- Preparing and maintaining proper documentation of all project-related activities;
- Regularly communicating with team as directed by supervising staff and collecting data and information for supervising staff.

- Strong communication (verbal and written) and superior active listening skills;
- Creative and advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to transfer prior experience to new projects;
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high quality of work;
- Must be a self-starter that is reliable, responsive to client needs and professional;
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite and Excel.
