Team Overview
The Loan Portfolio Advisory team is part of The Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory Division within the Institutional Clients Group (“ICG”). LPA is the private side group whose mandate is to create tailored risk and capital management solutions to support the growth strategy of BCMA. LPA is closely aligned with Markets, Banking and GCM on risk and capital mitigation solutions.
Job Background/Context:
Supporting the Global Head of BCMA-LPA, the VP will be responsible for 1) market intelligence and insights related to lending and credit markets products and trading activities; 2) the development of data driven analyses and strategies in support of new business development initiatives, particularly related to hedging optimization or markets business opportunities; 3) project management of key cross-firm strategic and business development initiatives; and 4) management, training and development of junior staff members.
Key Responsibilities Includebut are not limited to:
- Monitor Loan & CDS market trends and provide guidance to Banking & Risk on loan pricing, hedge costs and hedge execution strategies
- Perform portfolio, obligor and transaction-level analyses, with support of LPM analysts
- Prepare briefs on portfolio composition and trends, impact of risk policies, regulatory and accounting changes or other topical areas with support of LPM analysts
- Frequent Ad-hoc projects (i.e., industry limit hedging analysis, capital management exercises, etc.)
- Project management for new initiatives (new hedging tools, lending products or client segments)
- Develop materials, resources, frameworks to demystify processes, policies, trading conventions to increase and improve the impact of the advisory work the team provides to partners in Banking and GCM
- Develop resources and frameworks to expand the quality, quantity and frequency of market and product insights and information available to the team, and create targeted approach to leverage for benefit of banking, GCM and Risk partners.
- Develop subject matter expertise on trends and issues affecting our industry and provide impact analysis and recommendations.
- Supervise, train and support the career development of junior team members; function as Staffer and point person for recruiting
Qualifications
- 6-10 years of relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of credit products (loans, bonds, CDS, CLOs), the market place and market issues, preferably through experience in loan trading or syndications, credit research or credit trading.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to identify industry trends and provide strategic insight
- Well organized, disciplined approach to work with a high level of attention to detail.
- Team player with strong work ethic who also works well with others
- Strong writing, analytical, communication, and presentation skills
- Solid technology skills, including excel and Bloomberg or other relevant market research tools
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or closely related areas of Business Administration
- Master’s degree or CFA a plus
