Description
Under the supervision of the General Manager, Southwest Division, the Regional Logistics and Customer Service Manager is responsible for communication and coordination with customer accounts and the execution of all sales and purchase contracts between the region and customers. This position is also responsible for maintaining accurate inventories of shelled peanuts and seed. This position closely coordinates strategic planning regionally with shelling plant managers, cold storage managers, warehousing and quality managers, as well as outside the region with corporate logistics, other regional logistics managers, and the sales team. This position leads a team of account managers and support staff to ensure timely and accurate product shipments that meet customer specifications, and provide all customer service functions.
Essential Functions
- Coordinate staff to manage invoicing, shipping, and logistics functions for all plants and off-site cold storages
- Manage all functions related to shipping and inventory in coordination with other department managers and other regional logistics managers
- Provide support to all logistics staff
- Regularly update General Manager on all logistics targets and projections, customer service issues, and coordinate on departmental goals
- Responsible for complete and accurate inventory
- Analyze weekly inventory and shipment projections and forecast future changes
- Collaborate with Sales Team and Corporate Logistics to adjust contracts as needed for plant schedule changes or re-allocation of grade or region
- Responsible for budgets for transfer freight costs to outside cold storages
- Approve invoices related to customer service functions, internal transfer freight, delivered freight, export shipments and assist with brokerage
- Assist Regional Quality Manager with customer complaint information as needed
- Ensure the Birdsong standard for customer service is always maintained
- Serve as point of contact for Inspection Service for grade certificates and samples
- Ensure regulatory compliance for peanuts and peanut products, included but not limited to, USDA and FDA
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelorâs Degree required
- Business degree or Supply Chain Management degree preferred
- Supply chain background or experience preferred
- Strong leadership, motivational and organizational skills required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business and government documents
- Self-starter
- Proficient in the use of excel, power point, word, or similar applications
