Embedded within the Broad Institute, the Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT) is a highly collaborative organization of professional scientists that, in structure and capabilities, functions like a biotech. Our mission is to translate cutting edge biological insights originating from Broad principal investigator labs into drug discovery projects by collaborating with the PIs and with industrial partners, leveraging the expertise of both. We utilize systematic approaches in genomics, biology, and chemistry, coupled with the Broad’s culture of creativity, risk taking, and open sharing, to successfully advance science, develop new treatments, and positively impact patients.
CDoTâs collaborations require significant planning and coordination to be effective. We are seeking a motivated individual to partner with scientific project team leads to manage drug discovery projects in a fast-paced and fluid environment. In addition to the scientific leads, you will work closely with alliance managers, CDoT operations, and CDoTâs Strategic Leadership Team to see that projects are efficiently executed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Capture and monitor project deliverables in an organized management system. Work with scientific leads and alliance management to complete objectives on time.
- Plan and manage project communications in conjunction with scientific leads and alliance managers. Develop communication tools and an effective meeting schedule that meet the needs of the project team and key stakeholders. Complete progress reports, document meetings.
- Develop project budgets. Track expenses and provide updates on project financial health.
- Work with project leadership and team members to ensure quality data generation and management to ensure that data is secure and accessible for decision-making.
- Understand project resourcing needs over time and work with CDoT Operations, CDoT leadership and project leads to resource projects appropriately to accomplish goals according to accepted timelines.
- Manage team dynamics to maximize performance. Resolve conflicts and maintain alignment on goals and deliverables.
- Manage contracts for external goods and services in conjunction with scientists and Broad contracts personnel.
- Understand and manage risks to timely completion of project goals and objectives.
- Work with project managers across CDoT to develop and implement best practices.
- Navigate the Broad environment as an advocate for your project, removing impediments, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
Requirements:
- Minimum BS/MS in a scientific discipline with 3-5 years managing scientific projects
- Strong working knowledge of project management principles, tools, and processes
- Experience working with cross-functional scientific teams
- Solid understanding of drug discovery and development
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must be flexible and adaptive
- Troubleshooting skills are essential
- Attention to detail
- Ability to influence without authority
