Lakehead Constructors is seeking a Project Manager with 5 to 10 years experience in heavy industrial markets with a focus on mechanical/piping and equipment installation/erection. Would be based out of either or Superior, WI headquarters or our Aurora, MN office.
SUMMARY: The Project Manager (PM) oversees the execution and management of all construction projects assigned to the position. This position may also be the primary client point of contact regarding customer relations and marketing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The PM is responsible for ensuring implementation and execution of Company Safety and ISO 9001 requirements at the project level. Responsible for ensuring safe work performance, meeting and exceeding the Owners expectations, quality of work, performing the work on budget, and meeting the project schedule. This position should have continuous communication with field Supervision and Project Engineers to ensure that the current plans and specifications are used, that the materials and equipment required are on site, and that compliance with client and Company requirements are being met. In addition, the PM is responsible for ensuring that correspondence with the Owner and the architect/engineer is handled effectively. This Includes purchase orders, change orders, RFI’s, and project meeting minutes.
Project Managers will also work with the estimating department to develop estimates for projects, contact new and existing clients to develop and maintain relationships, and assist Senior Project Managers as necessary.
EDUCATION: High School diploma or GED. Undergraduate degree in Engineering or Construction Management with 3-5 years of related experience or training.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Computer literate with the ability to become proficient with any software deemed necessary to perform position duties as determined by the company. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Outlook. Proficient with project controls and scheduling software such as Primavera and/or MS Project is a requirement. ViewPoint Construction software knowledge is a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratios, rate, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Professional Engineering registration is preferred but not required.
OTHER SKILLS: Ability to accurately read and comprehend project drawings, specifications, and codes. This position also requires an understanding of effective people skill techniques and the ability to use appropriate skills as necessary. The ability to positively impact situations to produce positive outcomes is critical.
