Summary
Implement and manage strategic mission-critical initiatives to achieve both corporate-level and site-level goals while interfacing cross-functionally with various departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following (but not limited to):
Program Management:
LEAP (LISI Excellence Achievement Program) Manager
- Interface cross-functionally with various departments to integrate, manage, promote, and execute the corporate standards of LEAP operational excellence consistently and timely.
- Build and execute the program of LEAP tools development.
- Organize requested trainings at all levels to ensure team members have the knowledge, tools, skills, and abilities to function efficiently and effectively at their assigned job functions.
- Measure the efficiency of the program within production and efficiency indicators.
- Contribute to the execution of strategy plan of plant transformation to reach expected EBIT.
- Stay up to date on latest manufacturing tools, tactics and techniques to incorporate with LEAP standards. Introduces new and more effective methods of manufacturing to the team on a regular basis.
- Connect with other internal Division-wide LEAP team members as a resource.
- Other duties as assigned.
Project Management:
Relocation Manager
- Oversee and manage the budget and process of relocating two Livonia facilities to a new location.
- Develop a relocation project timeline to coincide with corporate driven objectives.
- Build VSM analyze to establish the new building size and list of requests.
- Validate that the identified new building fit with the list of requests.
- Plan and drive the forging optimization plan with engineering (how many Waterbury to keep and build).
- Plan and drive the part qualification program with the different customers with the support of sales and quality departments.
- Plan and drive the new building preparation (crane, office, compressors, etc.).
- Provide oversight and instruction of the proper teardown and movement of machinery and preparation of machinery for set up at the new location.
- Plan and coordinate the timely purchase of necessary office furniture and other resources needed to furnish and establish functional departments.
- Plan and drive the stock production requested for the moving.
- Plan and drive the moving operation.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, staff members and customers.
- Interface ongoingly with various departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Demonstrated project management or leadership role experience in lean manufacturing, relocation, or other similar manufacturing centered high level/high visibility projects.
- Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills to meet goals under a tight schedule.
- Initiative drivers to lead and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
- Follows instructions, responds to direction.
- Expert in problem solving and continual improvement processes, including 6 Sigma tools. Ability to conduct root cause analyses (e.g. 8D, 4CP).
- Safety and Security â Observes and practices proper safety and security procedures at all times; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly.
- Participates and maintains proper applicable trainings and certifications for compliance.
- Some intermediate level computer skills.
- Strong attention to details.
- Able to communicate and interact with all levels of team members including delivering information (presentation skills) to groups.
- Good judgement, self-motivated, and work independently.
- Able to travel domestically and internationally (5%-25%).
Education and/or Experience
Minimum of a Bachelorâs degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration or related field of study is required.
Professional Project Management certification helpful.
Five plus years of work experience managing and leading multiple large-scale projects and meeting deadlines is required, preferably in a manufacturing machinery environment.
Prior relocation, lean manufacturing, problem solving, operational excellence, and/or quality standards knowledge is preferred.
