As part of the Adtalem Global Education, OnCourse Learning is a leading provider of workforce solutions for the financial services industry including governance, risk, and compliance training for the banking and credit union sectors as well as mortgage licensing and continuing education offerings for enterprises and individuals. OnCourse empowers its large B2B client bases with hundreds of industry-aligned and accredited courses and a feature-rich earning management platform that simplifies tracking and reporting.

This role will provide executive leadership and overall management of the business, driving significant growth and profitability goals by managing operations and resources. Today, the business generates approximately $33M in revenue with a workforce of 110 employees, all in the US. The role directly leads a senior staff of 8.


Responsibilities:


Pivotal Experience & Expertise
  • Substantial senior-level executive operational leadership experience, including significantly growing a business, division or unit from entrepreneurial state to early maturity with exponential growth.
  • Strong operational skills and experience and a demonstrated track record of managing the day-to-day workings of a business unit to deliver financial performance. Experience managing functional teams/departments including sales, marketing, technology, product, customer service to achieve business units objectives is required.
  • Proven experience with effective implementation/use of KPIs and data-driven decision-making is a must.
  • Financial acumen and ability to effectively manage business unit P&L, capital expenditures, and forecasting/planning is a must.
  • Strong commercial mindset that understands sales/marketing and how to gain maximum leverage of existing products and services against market opportunities (cross-selling, up-selling, CRM strategies, etc.).
  • Familiarity with corporate learning and/or corporate training. The candidate must know how to package a solution sale to the Chief Learning Officer (or equivalent) within our client base and be able to “speak the language of learning” by having familiarity with the space in general.
  • A consultative mindset/approach to help our clients solve business issues with human capital transformation solutions – including off the shelf and custom solutions including an intimate knowledge of not only learning/training sales – but also implementation and delivery of such solutions to ensure success within our client base.
  • Experience with a growth segment within a mature multidivisional business environment and able to successfully operate in a matrix and communicate strategic and operational plans to senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of success with large-scale relationships; proven builder of executive and operational relationships and able to negotiate contracts of a significant nature.
  • Proven entrepreneurial, executive leader with broad general management capabilities; deep knowledge of sales and marketing processes/best practices is preferred.
  • Innovative approaches to sales and marketing, applying tools from other sectors, which have allowed program fees, memberships, certifications to be raised and market share to be captured from competitors.

Major Accountabilities

  • Financial Results:
    effectively manage the business unit budgets to deliver revenue and operating income targets and return on invested capital.

  • Organic Growth:
    create, implement and balance current and new initiatives designed to significantly increase new clients and revenue.
  • Human Capital Development: recruit, develop, and retain excellent staff to include setting up development programs and timely performance reviews. Manage succession planning and develop staff across the organization.

  • Innovation and Knowledge management:
    implement KPIs and data driven decision-making process to create a culture that drives product and technology innovation.

  • Key Staeholder Relations:
    serve as the organization’s key relationship manager with its internal and external stakeholders. Internal includes vertical and ATGE leadership and external includes clients, regulators, and industry leaders.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as President of the business unit to develop and deliver annual operating plans and long-range growth strategies that are consistent with expectations of a market leader. Accountable to the Group President, CEO and ultimately, the Adtalem Board of Directors.
  • Oversees the development of both operating and capital annual budgets, preparing and submitting budgets for review assuming responsibility for the sound financial management of the business unit within approved budgets.
  • Develops relationships with CFOs, Heads of Compliance, or Business Unit General Managers who will serve as the customer contact of the OnCourse customer comprised of banks, credit unions, and other financial services institutions.
  • Works with other business unit leaders within the Financial Services vertical to identify product and revenue synergy opportunities and collaborates effectively to bring to market
  • Communicates effectively to the Group President, CEO and the board to keep them informed of business and concerns of stakeholders.
  • Provides for the development, implementation, and review of long-range plans and business strategies for the institution.
  • Delegates appropriately the daily operations of the business unit to those in direct reporting line to the President.
  • Represents the business unit to the community at large. Provides services to strategic community groups.
  • Recruits, hires, mentors, and evaluates the members of the executive leadership team.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Creates and maintains an institutional culture of mutual respect, and professional growth.
  • Partners effectively with the SME and product side of the business to ensure quality of training (product, services and client experience) is never compromised by performance imperatives of the organization
  • Drives innovation through technology, market and customer research, to generate top and bottom-line growth.
  • Oversees current contractual agreements between the business unit and all parties with whom the organization engages in business relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years in the industry and a minimum 5 years in a senior level operational leadership role.
  • Prior experience managing a P&L (experience in financial services sector is a plus).
  • Proven leadership skills and management skills and ability to multi-task.
