Summary:
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) Director is responsible for management of operations, personnel management, strategic planning, policy formulation and implementation, and budget formulation and management. The Director has the responsibility for the provision of all library offerings and services for the campus and its constituents in accordance with the College’s mission and goals. The Director advocates for library technology and educational uses of information technology. The Director is responsible for administering the library’s automation system and public access workstations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Recruit, select, orient, supervise, and evaluate LRC personnel
· Determine and implement LRC policies and procedures and promote the use of the LRC
· Prepare and administer annual LRC budget
· Organize and provide delivery of electronic and print resources for learning and research
· Design LRC and instruct students and faculty in the use of LRC resources
· Collaborate with faculty and administrators to build the library collections
· Develop cooperative partnerships with other libraries and learning resource centers
· Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships
· Perform outcomes assessment and create strategic plan to further develop center offerings
· Purchasing, installing, troubleshooting, and evaluating software and hardware
· Keep attendance and usage records and prepare monthly attendance reports
· Provide a secure, organized, and quiet atmosphere conducive to studying and learning
· Analyze current trends in academic librarianship to determine the College’s needs
· Work and communicate effectively with all campus departmental staff
· Support all company initiatives and adhere to all company policies and procedures
· Comply with all State, Department of Education, and accreditation regulations
· Instruct online courses, specifically the SS100- Student Success course, on a rotating basis
· Attend faculty meetings to obtain faculty input on resources
· Facilitate the integration of resources into the curriculum
· Ensure LRC coverage during and beyond class hours
· Responsible for book ordering and scrub ordering
· Utilize the Dewey decimal system
· Manage inventory, utilize tracking system, distribute and collect LRC assets
· Distribute books, laptops, access codes and other learning resource material to students and faculty
· Utilize the library system (LibraryWorld and/or CampusVue) for loaner book tracking
· Execute the loaner book program- distribute, collect, track, and maintain inventory for all loaner books
· Other duties as assigned to meet business needs
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The Director must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization and with third parties regardless of their level of education or sophistication or socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. Effective interaction across departmental boundaries must be maintained. Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Working Conditions:
Office and campus environment. Ability to stand, walk, or sit for prolonged periods of time. Ability to operate computer keyboard. Ability to transport records, books, boxes, etc., by lifting up to 30 lbs. Be able to hear normal levels of speaking and be able to communicate orally and in writing. Visual acuity to observe people, situations, and written work.
Required Education and Experience:
· Minimum of a Bachelor degree of Library Science (BLS) or equivalent required*
· Two to four years of related experience required
· Working knowledge of the Internet, local area networking concepts, and commonly used computer hardware and software experience is preferred
· Experience using Intel-based hardware and Windows platform (server, workstation, and applications) highly desirable
Equivalent experience with transferrable skills may be substituted for all or part of the required education or work experience.
*Phoenix Campus Learning Resource Center Director must hold a minimum of a Master’s degree of Library Science (MLS) or equivalent
