- Accountable for performance of US Casualty portfolio and development of products for Argo Re casualty and S1200 US casualty
- Responsible for strategic planning and tactical execution of plan
- Management of all stakeholders inclusive of but not limited to Executive team, brokers, clients, auditors and reinsurers
- Leadership of US Casualty underwriting talent across international platforms
- Collaborate with US & Group product leadership to understand areas of performance and threats and agree underwriting appetite.
- Work with underwriting and business leadership to determine the strategy for the US Casualty portfolio in line with the international underwriting strategy.
- Underwrite risks in line with agreed underwriting authority and business plan.
- Research and develop new business opportunities.
- Drive cross-selling opportunities across the property portfolio.
- Lead the team providing a technical referral point, clear goals and personal/professional development. Retain and attract top tier talent
- Liaise with outwards reinsurance team as required.
- Provide written/verbal reports to support presentation at quarterly operating review meetings/ attend as required
- Contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures.
Syndicate Accountabilities (US Casualty only)
- Expand the account in line with Syndicate plans whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line improvement.
- Expand the current product range to allow ArgoGlobal to compete with market leaders in the sector.
- Monitor and keep abreast of changes in regulation and compliance.
- Represent the Syndicate at meetings with brokers, coverholders and other customers.
- Refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
- Create a distribution plan and expand/maintain existing broker relationships where this is consistent with the objectives set in the business plan.
- Liaise with Claims team as appropriate.
- Contribute to the regular analysis and review of underwriting practices and procedures.
- Participate in the underwriting peer review process.
- Support the improvement of Syndicate management information systems, rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials and platforms, website, risk management and claims functions.
