Job Description

Butterfly Network is looking for a seasoned strategic thinker, but also a tactical team player willing to roll up their sleeves and lead our Logistics Operations efforts. It will require a mix of proactive analysis and strategic development, team-building, cross-functional leadership, and excellent project management. You’ll collaborate closely with manufacturing, the warehouse, delivery, account management, digital product, and merchandising teams to develop and manage an efficient, stable global 3PL solution.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Plan, manage and evaluate logistics operations liaising with internal stakeholders, suppliers, logistics providers, transportation companies and customers
- Deliver solutions to logistics problems while maintaining high levels of quality and service within budgetary requirements and performance criteria
- Monitor quality, quantity, delivery times, and transport costs including evaluating optimal transport modes, routes or frequency.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with transportation and logistics providers
- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports or customer issues
- Review impact of logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers and report results to others
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and identify inefficiencies and cost optimization opportunities
- Ensure the integrity of inventory accuracy and manage stock movements including identifying and resolving any inventory discrepancies, movement or obsolete stock.
- Interpret trends and analyze and review data. Provide meaningful logistics data to others in the organization to aid customer service and cost improvements
- Ensure IT systems in place are effective, maintained, accurate while providing metrics, reports, and process documentation.
Qualifications
Baseline skills/experiences/attributes:
- 7+ years relevant experience with logistics, transportation, packaging, and global trade process and procedures, preferably in a medical distribution environment.
- Experience modeling budget and KPI data into succinct snapshots and recommendations for executive management.
- Impactful, clear communication skills: written, oral, and presentational.
- Strong knowledge of multi-modal logistics pricing models (air, parcel, ground, ocean, customs brokerage). Ability to identify process compliance failures and regulatory risks.
- Highly organized and demonstrated ability as a strategic thinker. Ability to prioritize multiple projects, develop effective plans, coordinate change management, and see projects through to conclusion.
- BA / BS degree in business administration, finance, data science, or equivalent.
Ideally, you also have these skills/experiences/attributes (but it’s ok if you don’t!):
- MBA and/or JD
- Strategy experience in consulting, finance or other strategic/analytical field, using analytical insight and employing thoughtful structures to solve problems and communicate solutions.
- Ability to value contracts and partnerships with limited input; comfort with varying business models.
- Ability to thrive in dynamic and ambiguous environments where thoughtfulness, an entrepreneurial mindset, persistent execution, and forming relationships will drive your success.
