IMDb is seeking a highly professional, experienced communications expert for the role of Head of Corporate Communications. The purpose of the role, which will report into IMDb’s Head of Corporate Affairs, is to maintain and enhance the corporate reputation of IMDb worldwide through effective advocacy and engagement with a diverse set of audiences. IMDb’s Head of Corporate Communications is responsible for effectively positioning the IMDb brand and business strategically within the larger entertainment industry landscape. By developing a deep understanding of the unique needs of the diverse customer groups who rely on IMDb, this role will credibly and authentically communicate with press, entertainment industry professionals and organizations, fans, IMDb and Amazon team members, key influencers, business associates and more through proactive strategies and customized narratives.
This role will manage all corporate communications, including external communications (reactive PR/crisis management; communications to key stakeholders pertaining to IMDb policies, content and Diversity & Inclusion efforts; PR in support of new business and other corporate announcements) and internal communications (producing written communications and events for IMDb team members) as well as executive image creation (managing and maintaining the image of senior IMDb executives through media training, speech writing, presentation creation and the development of high profile media opportunities). The successful candidate will convey enthusiasm for IMDb customers (fans, industry professionals, advertisers and more), media, entertainment industry professionals and the IMDb business, brand and team as a whole.
The successful candidate will be confident in their ability to tackle difficult communications challenges. By thinking and communicating clearly and inspiring confidence internally and externally, the right candidate will be able to formulate a definitive point of view on complicated issues and develop creative, concise and well-written plans and narratives to effectively express IMDb stances on various issues.
This role requires an intelligent, extremely high-judgment, self-motivated and creative communications expert. This individual will have the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic organization and have a track record of generating results, as well as extensive experience in dealing with media contacts and entertainment industry professionals and organizations. They will pay painstaking attention to important details. Excellent writing skills are imperative for this role.
Charismatic and a natural relationship builder, the successful candidate will have an influential voice and credibility with key senior journalists and broadcasters. They will bring with them established contacts and will effect change. The successful candidate will be prepared to roll up their sleeves and get work done, even when at times it sits outside the scope of the role’s direct remit.
The role will be based in Seattle, WA or Santa Monica, CA.
Key Responsibilities
- Devising and implementing communications goals, strategies and tactical PR campaigns and programs that advance our business goals and strengthen our corporate reputation
- Conduct proactive and reactive media relations in support of IMDb’s corporate reputation, policies, data/content, new business announcements, Diversity & Inclusion programs and more
- Provide input on IMDb policies to ensure they are aligned with IMDb’s diverse customer segments
- Successfully anticipate and manage all IMDb reactive PR issues, working with key stakeholders within IMDb and Amazon to develop and successfully execute messaging and strategies
- Manage corporate communications and support Public Policy and Diversity & Inclusion work through the development and execution of relevant PR campaigns
- Provide communications counsel to internal executives on both short- and long-term challenges and opportunities
- Manage executive image creation program, including: media training; preparing executives for press interviews including the development of messaging and prep documents; writing keynotes, presentations, remarks and other communication materials
- Develop and manage IMDb’s internal communications program, including producing events and written communications for the IMDb team worldwide
- Effectively represent IMDb as a spokesperson
- Create and update proactive communication materials
- Develop a corporate responsibility program
- Manage budgets and deliver clear, results-focused reports
- Manage PR and speaking opportunities aimed at building IMDb’s corporate reputation
- Develop effective outreach programs to corporate stakeholders such as entertainment industry contacts and third-party groups
