OneSky has an opening for a Director of Development in our newly minted high-tech startup in the Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) domain. This position is an incredible opportunity to lead our product development team, where we build products that will establish OneSky as the leading provider of software and services that safely and efficiently plan, manage and monitor any type of drone within existing airspace. We are looking for a proven leader, with current development skills as well. As Director, you’ll lead and grow our development team, and ensure that our products meet the stringent requirements for flying UAS’s beyond visual line of sight. You’ll oversee our IT infrastructure, CI/CD pipeline and all of our agile processes. You’ll mentor others to become leaders themselves, to help us manage our teams as we grow. You like challenges, you communicate well and you can balance multiple activities with different timelines easily. The Director of Development at OneSky has the following duties: – Responsible for all of the development organization, which includes software development, software test and development operations. – Responsible for hiring, training and coaching of the development staff, making sure we have the right people in the right position at the right time to meet our business objectives. This also includes mentoring potential leaders towards management positions. – Interfacing with our Business Development, Sales, Marketing, Service and Product teams to balance our development workload against competing priorities to support our various products and contracts. – Assist with coding as needed, in either our Java stack or our .Net stack solutions. – Team management, including building the development team to support our various contracts and products. This includes: Product development Outsourced development Product test Technical Writing and documentation Data management and database development & maintenance Security and Cyber implementation Ensure that our tests and testing infrastructure provide our customers with an assurance that our products are correct.
You must meet these requirements for the Director of Development position:
- Proven development team leadership experience or similar leadership role
- Hands-on experience building/operating complex, scalable, and high-performance cloud-based solutions
- Exceptional Leadership and team management skills, especially in a fast paced start-up environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field; Relevant technical graduate degree highly preferred.
- 6+ years working in a technological role; 3+ years in technical leadership or managerial roles.
