The Director Financial Planning & Analysis (“FP&A”) serves as the Division leader responsible for activities related to the following major areas: financial analysis, sales analysis, investment analysis and approval and internal reporting, including close coordination/input with Regional Company finance, sales and operations leads and Division finance; annual budgeting; forecasting/modeling; business warehouse development/reporting and other ad hoc analyses.
The Director FP&A also serves as liaison with the Corporate FP&A function to provide analyses and insight related to Division trends in such areas as: same-store sales; sales by major product group; pricing; margins; operating costs, investment management, working capital and capital expenditures. The Director of FP&A plays a key role in developing and reporting profitability improvement opportunities within the West Division and Corporate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes; working closely with Regional and Division leadership.

Direct regional leadership on developing and tracking EBITDA improvement opportunities; especially as it relates to operating efficiencies. Leads financial analysis, modeling, forecasting and reporting efforts to ensure efficient financial operations.

Review analysis results, develops insightful suggestions for investment, sourcing, cost reduction and provides support to division leadership on strategic business decisions.

Supports the integration of financial reporting for entities acquired, merged or for updates to internal structures.

Collaborate with the Regional operation and finance leadership teams to better understand historical financial results, trends and validate budget and forecast assumptions.

Support development of Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) proposals and act as a key contributor in the approval chain. Track and report monthly project performance/spend against plan.

Ensure communication regarding business plans and budgets across all functions and corporate groups on a monthly basis.

Prepare complex financial modeling of changing trends in the business and prospective financial initiatives and transactions.

Monitor and communicate financial and operational performance indicators highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances to plan and/or forecast. Utilize investment decision making through financial concepts such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), as well as basic statistical and data science concepts.

Lead the creation and maintenance of extensive financial analysis modeling to support the Division as well as Corporate FP&A requests.

Lead the Division’s efforts to improve utilization of data warehouse reporting tools and participate in Super User, SAP software, Business Warehouse (BW) and Business Process (BP) support groups.

Build strong relationships with the Division and Regional management teams.

Develop the Division FP&A organization through goal-setting, evaluations, positive feedback, discipline, and on-going coaching ensuring activities are performed within department and Company policy.

Develop value added cross divisional and cross functional partnerships to maintain awareness of business activities through knowledge, experience and best practices.

Proven ability to work effectively under deadlines and with little supervision and to complete a high volume of paperwork accurately and on time.

Proficiency with entering and extracting data into and from a computer.
Required Education: -
Bachelor’s Degree in finance or related field, MBA strongly preferred.
Required Length & Type of Experience:
-
Six to Ten years financial reporting/financial analysis preferably in the FP&A discipline and a proven track record of positions of increasing responsibility preferred.

Minimum of two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity preferred.

Familiarity with investment decision/finance concepts such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR).

Experience with the manufacturing, retail and distribution industry is preferred.

Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Business Planning & Consolidation (BPC) systems development/implementation, SAP preferred.

Ability to manage multiple levels of priorities and demands between divisional, local and corporate management.

- Working knowledge of Google Suite
- Experience within understanding complex process flows and driving process improvements.
- Strong Excel experience required in: knowledge of Developing Dashboards, Financial Modeling, or automation of Financial Procedures, writing macros, developing formulas using functions such as pivot tables and all lookup functions (V-Lookup, Match,& IF Statements), BI – Microsoft Power BI experience and Database experience a plus.
- Strong ability to guide and influence senior leadership.
- Must be capable of operating independently, but readily seek the counsel of others, when necessary.
