Our Design Project Management community is on a journey to transform itself into a key function, which strongly enables execution and delivery of design. To get there, we are developing a professional and accomplished group of project managers, within a context where people are empowered to perform and offered solid career perspectives in the wider Philips organization.


We are looking for

An experienced design project manager to join our Design team in Bothell. The ideal candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team representing a full range of design capabilities.

Our focus is on driving user experience innovation, through the development of new products, solutions and services in the area of Oral Healthcare.


You are responsible for

  • Orchestrating and realizing design delivery management; i.e. project intake, scope, plan and manage the execution of project and/or program activities, to realize the respective commitments and Design objectives.
  • Clarifying and aligning project goals and getting stakeholder buy-in
  • Organizing the resources (both internal and external) to be used and specifying the quality standard in the processes
  • Managing the project execution towards the timely realization of the agreed deliverables
  • Establishing and working in a structured and methodical way, utilizing company standard processes and tool-set
  • Securing transparency and predictability on the progress and outcome of a project in all its metrics
  • Contributing to the project management community’s performance and capability building
  • Implementing and executing strong operations support process for the studio, in the areas of resource and procurement management, and general business support
  • Partnering with design leader to develop work force plan, design program, design budget, resourcing plan and make or buy strategy.
  • Monitoring spend and providing reports to stakeholders


You are part of

Philips Design, established in 1925, and one of the longest-established design organizations in the world. It has studios across the globe – in Amsterdam, Bangalore, Cambridge (US), Eindhoven, Pittsburgh, Seattle, Shanghai and Singapore – and a creative force of 450 professionals. We create the future identity for the portfolio and execute this through projects, guidelines and final design specifications.

You will join the Design Project Management community, which consists of about 50 people, and report to the Bothell studio Senior Director.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in a relevant or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience, owning/leading creative projects from idea through implementation with evidence of business impact.
  • Understands design thinking and front-end design and proposition creation processes.
  • Able to provide structure or flexibility when needed to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Strong expertise in both waterfall and agile project management processes and knowledge areas.
  • A strong performance track. Learning agility present: fast learner, impact through teamwork and a strong dose of self-reflection. Able to deal with complexity, and to develop the winning plan. A high drive for personal development.
  • Key behavioral competences include business insight, balance stakeholders, direct work, ensure accountability, build effective teams and nimble learning
  • key functional competences include the 10 Project Management Institute® knowledge areas, plus change and lean management
