Under the direction of the Chief Staff Executive (CSE), the Manager of Commercial Services researches, plans, organizes, establishes, and executes commercial services to promote the initiatives of the
Birmingham Commercial REALTORS®. This individual is responsible for overseeing the organization’s
Commercial Information Exchange (CIE) powered by Catylist, known as the Birmingham Commercial
Exchange (BCX). This individual also manages the affairs of the Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council
(BCRC) and the membership development strategies of the association’s affiliate members.

This position is an excellent opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, can work independently and who is looking to grow professionally. The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a complimentary field of study (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and a minimum of 3 years of relevant workplace experience.

This is a year-round, full-time position (37.5 hours per week). Work schedule is 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday

Birmingham Association of REALTORS® is a 4,000-member not-for-profit trade association located in Birmingham, Alabama.
Under the direction of the Chief Staff Executive (CSE), the Manager of Commercial Services researches, plans, organizes, establishes, and executes commercial services to promote the initiatives of the Birmingham Commercial REALTORS®. This individual is responsible for overseeing the organization’s Commercial Information Exchange (CIE) powered by Catylist which is offered on a subscription basis and known as the Birmingham Commercial Exchange (BCX).

BASIC FUNCTION: This individual is responsible for the general administration, operations and day-to-day activities of the
Commercial Division of Birmingham Association of REALTORS® and the Birmingham Commercial Exchange (BCX); including financial oversight, secretarial support, membership development, and communication. This individual also manages the affairs of the Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council (BCRC) and the membership development strategies of the association’s affiliate members.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Make decisions to further the mission of the Commercial Division within their area of responsibility
  • Monitor industry news, trends, and emerging technologies to produce reports, publications, stories and information for use by the Commercial Division members and external customers
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with non-member commercial brokerages and related real estate professionals in an effort to convert them as members of the organization and subscribers of its CIE
  • Collaborate with communications department in an effort to further the membership development strategies of the association’s affiliate members.
  • Collaborate with and assist the Professional Development Department in an effort to deliver exceptional educational opportunities for our commercial members.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Department to create engaging communications geared specifically to the unique interest of our commercial members.
  • Create and oversee comprehensive list of industry resources, directories, and technology tools for inclusion on commercial section of the website; establish the site as a destination for new as well as seasoned professionals, REALTOR® and non-REALTOR®.
  • Identify opportunities to connect with NAR commercial staff and fellow local REALTOR® associations to build/maintain relationships with commercial staff and improve communication on shared best practices.
  • Work with CFO to develop the yearly budget for the Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council (BCRC)

and monitor for compliance.

  • Plan, organize and coordinate quarterly Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council (BCRC) events such as annual awards and the commercial project showcase.
  • Work with the Membership Department to ensure a seamless handling of all inquiries related to the Commercial

Division membership and CIE onboarding and related policy questions

  • Attend regular staff and managers meetings and monthly board meetings for Birmingham Association of

REALTORS®.

  • Manage all business meetings of the Commercial Division and Birmingham Commercial REALTORS® Council (BCRC), including the creation and dissemination of agendas, meeting notices and minutes
  • Oversee the operations of the CIE
  • Collaborate and assist other departments with association programs and events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and/or required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous professional experience in commercial real estate or association trade groups or membership organizations preferred. Previous experience in commercial real estate administration or commercial lending, commercial appraisal or commercial title required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a complimentary field of study is preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience) and a minimum of three (3) years relative workplace experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, particularly the ability to read, analyze, write, edit reports according to prescribed style/format and correspond with members
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
  • Excellent leadership skills with ability to influence and monitor meeting protocol
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software (e.g., powerpoint, excel, word, publisher)
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, volunteers customers and the general public
  • Ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason and solve problems
