Job Summary:

This is an Executive level position responsible for the overall strategic direction, as well as the tactical execution, of all aspects of Supply Chain Operations for a multi-hospital Division(s) (14 to 20+ facilities). This includes responsibility for all regional contracting and sourcing, value analysis, clinical integration, distribution, facility-based activities, pharmacy operations, and serves as a liaison for transactional processing (purchasing, accounts payable, customer service, and internal control). This position also provides strategic oversight for other support services as applicable to the specific division. This individual is responsible for managing $250 – $600 million in annualized supply expenses and over $20 million in capital expenditures, through reviewing and optimizing the current GPO contract portfolio, developing comprehensive clinical and utilization protocols, and developing and executing a product standardization plan for the entire Division. This position is also responsible for recruiting, directing, managing and evaluating over 175 FTEs located at the division, hospital or remote locations through an annual operations budget of $15 to $40 million. This individual is responsible for building strategic relationships and ongoing alliances with key hospital and Division(s) C-suite leaders and other stakeholders.

Supply Expense Management

  • Develops strategies for the effective management of supply expense
  • Develops specific plans by facility to execute the supply expense strategies
  • Ensures execution of all supply expense strategies and plans

Creating Alignment with the Clinical Agenda

  • Ensures our services are relevant and supportive of the clinical initiatives of the facilities
  • Ensures alignment between contracting, clinical resource management, pharmacy and identified Division and facility clinical initiatives

Customer Relationships

  • Owns and manages the relationships with key facility stakeholders, including the C-Suite leaders and physicians
  • Actively participates in supply expense discussions, strategic plan development and support, and conducts regular business reviews with Division and facility leadership

Outside Relationships

  • Creates value through efficiencies and innovation

Operational Responsibilities (included but not limited to):

  • Responsible for the overall leadership of all Supply Chain activities with the Division including but not limited to:

    • Contracting and Sourcing
    • Value Analysis and Clinical Integration
    • Pharmacy Management
    • Supply Expense Management
    • Distribution and Logistics
    • Liaison for transactional processing (purchasing, accounts payable, customer service, and internal control)
  • Hospital-based Supply Chain activities
  • Drives product utilization/standardization protocols, and clinical initiatives
  • Develops and implements a regional supply expense management plan by facility
  • Develops and implements a regional contracting and business diversity contracting plan
  • Optimizes the GPO portfolio
  • Responsible for the integrity of the Supply Chain financial statements, including appropriate account reconciliation/review, and achievement of the expense budget
  • Coordinate, manage and evaluate Division Supply Chain personnel
  • Coordinate Capital Budget plan and purchases with Hospital and Division leadership
  • Develops and improves customer satisfaction with the hospitals and other customers
  • Executes a continuous improvement program for all supply chain functions
  • Responsible for planning, measuring, executing and tracking all supply chain projects
  • Manages other support services as applicable to the Division(s)


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Hospital Operations Background/Experience OR Supply Chain Background/Experience
  • Financial or operational hospital or healthcare related experience (> 7 years)
  • Clinical understanding preferred
  • Supply Chain understanding preferred (if no direct supply chain background/experience)
  • Demonstrated passion for building a clinically integrated supply chain
  • Demonstrated experience with C-Suite, clinical, and/or medical staff initiatives
  • Experience Building a High Performing Culture
  • Proven experience in building a high performing team and a customer focused culture
  • Demonstrated passion for leadership development and mentoring
