Role Summary/Purpose:
Synchrony’s Developer Portal and API offerings are advancing every day. We are looking for an Agile Scrum Master to continue the initiative to grow the portfolio of Enterprise APIs and showcase Synchrony’s technology via the Developer Portal and API products. In this role you will work with the Product Owners/Managers, Development teams, API teams, and business/marketing stakeholders to continue the growth, development, and expansion of our developer-centric functionalities.
- Apply technical expertise to guide teams in developing enterprise grade API products which fit into overall domain model
- Strong relationship and ongoing communication with various cross-functional stakeholders serving as a key technology owner of the API suite
- Continuously learning about the organizations needs and the changing industry trends to push the organization towards best in class but appropriate technology design
- Servant leadership as scrum master to core Enterprise API agile team, proactively removing team impediments, and guiding towards strong performance
- Contribute expertise and drive to the overall API Transformation program
Essential Responsibilities:
- Scrum Master for technology teams in leading teams in Agile methodologies.
- Work with business and technical teams to shape business stories and provide ongoing communication scrum phases
- Ensures development stories, acceptance criteria, assumptions, and all related documentation are timely and complete, supporting development, testing, and user acceptance activities.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, internal development resources, clients, and Cloud team to understand customer needs and define the product roadmap
- Be a trusted technology advisor to stakeholders while managing expectations and maintain their engagement in user story creation & prioritization
- Regularly communicate with other Product Owners to facilitate cross-team collaboration and adoption
- Maintain high level of support & monitoring for the Developer Portal, in order to proactively identify risks and optimize product adoption
- Partner with API development teams to productize and promote new API products via the Developer Portal
- Generates process reports indicating velocity, burn-down, etc.
- Communicate and facilitate effectively across diverse audiences within and outside of the Sprint Team (key stakeholders, executives)
- Manage a diverse Technology team consisting of application architects, application engineers, UX designers, and outsourced vendors.
- Conduct Scrum Ceremonies: Daily Stand Ups, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Planning, Demos/Reviews, Retrospectives, and release planning.
- Manage Sprints – keeping order, process, delivery, priorities accurate and on time
- Keep scrum team focused on concrete priorities while keeping outside influences from disrupting the Scrum team and actively identify and remove waste and distractions
- Work with Product Owners and QA team to ensure that testing and feedback is completed in a timely manner and meeting the Sprint timelines
- Advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, empowered, and continuously improving teams.
- Lead in production support prioritization with key stakeholders and identify and pursue improvements.
- Work with cross-functional teams to create a holistic roadmap and planning for product delivery
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of Technology experience
- 2 years of experience in Agile Product Owner (CSPO) or Scrum Master (CSM)
- Demonstrated experience managing scope and expectations of large technology projects including business/technical requirements, budgets, schedules, distributed resources, and dependencies
Desired Characteristics:
- Agile Product Owner (CSPO) or Scrum Master (CSM) or comparable certification
- Working knowledge of Scrum and Scrum tools (i.e. JIRA)
- Passionate and curious, driven to learn
- Track record of creative problem solving and ability to thrive in a cross-functional and technology facing environment
- High energy, self-motivated, with strong communication and prioritization skills (verbal and written)
- Experience with one of the API management platform such as Apigee, IBM API Connect, MuleSoft API, or similar
- Experience with RESTful API design/development
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
- New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must have at least a “consistently meets expectations” performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 70,000.00 – 150,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
