Position Summary
The Associate Project Manager will participate in our leadership development and rotation program. This position is designed to develop skill sets within multiple functional areas of our Construction, Engineering and Networking business units and will report to the Director of PMO & OE. Extensive, long-term field assignments and travel will be required over the course of this one-year program in order to support various projects. Successful candidates may be considered for various roles at program completion.
Responsibilities
- Develop understanding of safety, quality, project management, estimating, engineering, financial analysis, project controls, design, communications, scope, and contracts within the key phases of a project’s lifecycle.
- Develop, optimize and update tools related to project schedules for multiple, simultaneous large projects using schedule software such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project and Excel.
- Assist in developing Project Plan and coordinate staffing efforts for field positions.
- Monitor/control construction through administrative interactions with on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
- Shadow various Project Managers to understand the contractor prime relationship, to facilitate construction activities.
- Participate in project kickoff meetings, weekly and monthly project meeting, monthly project report out reviews, as well as project closeout lessons learned.
- Enroll in On-line Project Management training courses offered by the company to better understand a project’s lifecycle and where and how the coursework is applied to HMI operations.
- Participate in active projects to reinforce PM learning components and how each component of the Project Plan is applied.
- Accept rotational assignments to various locations for extended periods of time (3 – 6 months) through the project’s lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Must be a College graduate with a four-year advanced degree preferably in Engineering, Construction Management or Business.
- Experience with Primavera Scheduling Software and Microsoft Project is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship for a work visa.
- Must be willing to travel and commit to long-term project based assignments
