Job Description
The corporate strategy office has responsibility for Enterprise-wide Business Continuity Planning (BCP) with a responsibility to assess the current state, identify and remediate gaps, and develop and execute upon a multi-year road map to enhance the company capability in this discipline. This position will play a key role in building this capability and working with senior leadership sponsors and delegates across the enterprise to ensure the company can continue to deliver its key process and products in times of disruption.
Primary Responsibilities:
Business Continuity Planning
- Support the development of the enterprise level road map for business continuity planning and enable delivery of an “all-hazards” (e.g. from natural disasters to cyber-attacks) BCP approach across the enterprise
- Support the development of the business case and recommended prioritization of key processes and capabilities to drive focused deployment of resources to progress BCPs for the areas of highest potential impact to the company
- Collaborate across the company to robustly connect with subject matter experts to contribute to BCPs for prioritized processes, products, and sites across all divisions and support functions
- Partner with global security, enterprise risk management, crisis management, IT disaster recovery, and other resiliency related teams, both internally and externally, to help build a unified program across the enterprise
- Identify dependencies within the existing business continuity planning model and drive efforts to ensure robust BCP’s are aligned across these dependencies to enable actionable solutions
- Support the maintenance efforts of the BCP program including management of plan inventory, coordination of update planning cycles, engagement in appropriate exercising/testing efforts including after actions reviews
- Support analysis and development of appropriate metrics and objectives to communicate status, risks, and priorities up to our Company’s Executive Committee and/or the Enterprise Audit and Enterprise Risk Committees where appropriate
- Stay abreast of evolving landscape through engagement of the internal/external community to understand industry and discipline best practices, supportive technology and systems, regulatory implications, and bring insights back to the business
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree Required
- Advanced degree preferred (e.g. MBA )
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years working experience in the bio/pharmaceutical or healthcare related industry or strategy consulting/execution experience with bio/pharmaceutical or healthcare related company
- Demonstrated strong cross-functional team leadership, facilitation, and influencing ability
- Persuasive written and visual communications skills in a variety of settings – management presentations, one on one or group meetings
- Confidence to challenge the status-quo and raise questions, risks, and issues
- Ability to create a sense of urgency, drive results, champion and drive change
- Ability to work in ambiguity, to problem solve, and to make rapid / disciplined decisions
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with effective, timely execution and delivery
- Demonstrated ability to be successful within a matrix organization where strong leadership, influence and collaboration are essential to enlist support and commitment from peers
- Ability to understand end to end company operations including research and development, manufacturing, commercial operations, financial processes, critical IT infrastructure and applications
- Strong project management and organizational skills, and ability to plan and manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Preferred Experience and Skills
- Project or Program Management experience and/or certification (e.g. PMP)
- Experience and/or certification in related fields of risk management, crisis management, disaster recovery, or business continuity planning
- Experience with oversight of management consultant engagements
