Under the general direction of the SVP/Treasurer, plans, coordinates and manages the accounting and financial reporting functions for Dedham Savings.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with senior management in a variety of responsibilities relating to liquidity and asset liability modeling, investment portfolio administration, annual budget preparation and monitoring, charitable foundation accounting and income tax provisioning.

  • Prepare analysis relating to the Allowance for Loan Loss and Leases.

  • Based on strong knowledge of internal controls, perform various risk assessments and monitoring tasks relating to financial reporting risk, operational risk, vendor risk, information technology risk and other risk management related items like disaster recovery and information security.

  • Financial liaison to internal and external auditors. Manage the production of documents required by such third parties. Participate in preparation of annual audited financial statements and footnotes.

  • Participate in the daily and monthly closing of the Dedham Savings’ general ledger and oversee the production of various internal financial reporting packages.

  • Review all monthly general ledger reconciliations and follow up on resolution of reconciling items.

  • Oversee preparation and review of all regulatory reports including but not limited to, FDIC Call Report, FR Y-9SP, FR 2900 and DIF Report.

  • Develop accounting staff by providing education, training and special project opportunities.

  • Research and interpret new accounting and regulatory pronouncements to determine their financial and operational impact upon the organization and recommend actions needed to implement them.

  • Review and revise accounting policies and procedures when changes are warranted.

  • Ensure accounting software is appropriate for the size and complexity of Dedham Savings. Research new software when needed and oversee the implementation of software and updates, when applicable.

  • Continuously researches opportunities to improve operating efficiencies within the department the Bank.

  • Serve on various committees within Dedham Savings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or CPA required.
  • Five or more years banking and/or financial services experience
  • Ability to multi-task while adhering to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret emerging regulatory and accounting guidance and their impact on the Bank.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven project management experience.
  • Proactive analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.
  • Ability and desire to mentor staff
