Position Summary:

The VP, Technology Program Management Office will be the key leader to build Vertex’s Technology Project Management Office. They will set a clear vision, strategy and program to promote a culture of excellence, dependability delivery, follow through and transparency. Vertex is a fast-moving organization which depends upon multiple technologies to compel our mission forward. Vertex is in a transformational period where we are accelerating our capabilities, technology and data to augment our scientific mission, enable Vertex to grow in scale and be a be on the forefront of science and medicine. This role will ensure all programs and projects are aligned to Vertex’s strategy, be responsible for the timely delivery of these programs and develop holistic view of technology investments to enable strategic decision making and organizational alignment. The VP of Technology Program Management Office will establish delivery models which match the implementation and technology needs of our business functions. This role will develop clear communication protocols for project teams, executives, various stakeholders to ensure awareness, buy-in and. Alignment. This role will work in collaboration with other business and technology teams, to implement forward thinking project management disciplines, be responsible for overall project success and oversee the quality of project management delivery to Vertex.


Key Responsibilities
:

  • Lead a team of program/project/scrum masters managers to shape the project management strategy and methodologies for the company, globally.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Project Management vision, strategy and Project Management program across the organization while meeting the changing needs of our customers.
  • Develop an executive portfolio view and communicate progress, risk and enable decision making
  • Ensures project scope, schedules, and budgets are established and managed throughout all project lifecycles.
  • Drive and enable program appropriate project methodologies
  • Promote and drive a culture of accountability for a team through effective people management including hiring, retention, coaching and development.
  • Identify critical metrics to assess and measure impact and results. Ensures established metrics are tracked and reported on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with internal business partners to ensure Project Management optimizes our business processes and supports customer experience
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of project management policies, standards and procedures to consistently deliver quality project management services to our customers.
  • Supports and participates in continuous improvement activities.


Qualifications:

  • A minimum 15+ years of project management experience
  • Lead and built large and effective project management teams
  • Deep knowledge of Project Management in Digital, Professional or Technology Services
  • Practical experience with various project methodologies, Scrum/Agile, PMI, Kanban, etc.
  • A passion for staying current and understanding new trends in globalization, professional services, business operations, processes, information technologies and project management disciplines.
  • Ability to successfully communicate and negotiate with business partners
