Position Overview:
This full-time position is responsible for the overall fundraising objectives for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pikes Peak Region. Fundraising areas encompass individual and major gifts, corporate partnerships, special event sponsorships, grants, promotions, bequests, and in-kind support. The Vice President of Fund Development’s primary role is to generate financial resources to support the organizations $2 million annual budget.
This position requires a high-energy creative individual who is extremely goal oriented, able to handle multiple deadlines, demonstrates good judgement and maturity in decision-making and works well within an collaborative environment. An ability to consistently follow through with donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship is critical.
The successful candidate will be a self starter, a leader, be able to manage and organize multiple projects and priorities on time, will have a strong passion for youth. This person will present a strong professional appearance with exceptional verbal and written communications skills. Comfortable working independently and in group settings. Must have the ability to work effectively with CEO level Executives, and be skilled in negotiating and problem solving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Fundraising:
- Create an annual resource development budget in conjunction with CEO.
- In collaboration with the CEO and Board, work with committees and team in developing goals and objectives to successfully execute annual strategic business plan.
- Work with Fundraising/Event Committees to create Corporate Partnership and Event Sponsorship Opportunities.
- Ensure adherence to all grant requirements.
- Secure major individual and corporate sponsors ($10K and above) for special events.
- Develop and work with Board Members to cultivate a pipeline of major gift donors and solicit regularly.
- Participate in and create donor stewardship activities with emphasis on Board and major gift donors.
- Attend BGCPPR special events, BGCPPR clubhouse events, internal and external meetings and network within the community to the benefit of the organization to secure funding and increase awareness of our mission.
- Maintain documentation of all grants received through the organizations database.
- Research and seek new foundations and corporations.
- Collaborate with Operations department to communicate the terms and needs of each grant as well as reporting.
- Other additional tasks or project responsibilities that may not be included in the above areas.
Face-to-Face Solicitation:
- Research and seek new individual donors.
- Ask for contributions and follow up with thank you, additional meetings, etc.
- Maintain relations with current donors through thank you notes, newsletters, phone calls, invites to special events,etc.
- Meet with potential donors to discuss the Club and the individual’s values.
- Attend various community and networking events to represent Boys & Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region and develop new prospects.
- Manage and implement direct mail campaign.
- Maintain and pursue cause related marketing campaigns with local companies.
Special Events:
- Acquire sponsors and invite individuals to attend.
- Schedule and plan logistics of the annual Youth of the Year Gala.
- Establish pricing and sponsorship levels with President/CEO.
- Follow up after events to include phone calls, club tours, thank you notes, etc. to donors and attendees.
Financial/Forecasting:
- Responsible for maintaining Salesforce donor database to track all donations and donor information.
- Develop and maintain weekly reports for 30-60-90 day forecasts of projected income.
- Work closely with the Director of Finance to align projected income and expenses.
- Maintain accurate and up to date numbers on all revenue received.
- Create resource development updates for the board for quarterly board meetings.
- Create and submit weekly development reports to President/CEO.
- Meet weekly with President/CEO to discuss current and potential revenue.
- Meet with board resource development committee to discuss prospects and action items.
Other:
- Attend all staff meetings.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
The Vice President of Fund Development reports directly to and receives regular supervision from the President/CEO.
Supervision Exercised:
The Vice President will oversee and supervise the Development Manager, and any other resources available to the department. Set annual revenue targets with Development Manger, provide oversight, guidance to meet goals, support, coaching, feedback
Qualifications/ Competencies:
Four-year degree from an accredited college or university in business, non-profit, or other relevant field, and at least four years of experience in the non-profit or foundation sectors; including fundraising, corporate sponsorship, grant writing, event planning, marketing and communications; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong work-ethic and a commitment to the mission and growth of the Boys & Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is desireed; Master’s degree preferred.
- A minimum of two years or more of professional experience in youth development, non-profit management, sales or new business development with an emphasis on fundraising, grant writing, management, budgeting, community and public relations.
- Working knowledge and use of donor database software (Salesforce preferred, etc.).
- Knowledge of accounting, business practices and principals as they relate to fundraising.
- Must submit to and pass a background check.
Skills:
- Must be able to work flexible hours, to include evenings and weekends as necessary as well as travel throughout the city, state and possibly overnight travel out of state.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and capable of becoming proficient in various related software products.
- Demonstrates excellence in organizational and managerial skills.
- Adapts well to change and fast paced environments.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Frequently required to sit, walk, stand, hear, talk, see, use hands, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. This position requires mobility. One must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license. Duties involve moving items weighing up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis.
Summary:
This position requires driving – candidates must have had a valid driver’s license for at least three years. Pre-employment drug testing and a comprehensive background check is part of our hiring process.

Our organization is also the oldest Club west of the Mississippi River and the eighth oldest Club of more than 4,300 worldwide. During our 131-year history, our organization has devoted itself to providing the youth of the Pikes Peak Region with a safe place to learn and grow. We operate two after school youth development programs and four before & after school child care programs in the Pikes Peak Region, serving approximately 1,300 youth with nationally acclaimed programming.
