About This Role

Very is a remote-first company, meaning we don’t have a physical office, and you can work from anywhere in the continental United States. Your home, a co-working space, on the road, you name it. If you feel like moving, you don’t have to change jobs.

As the Vice President of Finance, you will be working to drive our Financial and performance analytics tracking to a world class level. Our ideal candidate will have experience managing billing/AR personnel and a substantial background in financial planning and analysis, organizational performance tracking and interest in contributing to the development of proprietary internal performance tracking tooling.

Those who apply are required to have some if not all of the following qualifications:

  • 7+ years of overall financial experience
  • 3+ years in mid to senior level positions in fast growing companies responsible for FP&A and accounting
  • You have been a part of a team that set-up, scaled, and maintained the Finance department at a tech organization that has gone through massive growth, and you’re ready to do it better the second time around
  • You are low-ego, high-energy, and exhibit the qualities of a servant leader, always asking what you can do to make those around you more successful

What You’ll Be Working On

Very is first and foremost a software consultancy. We tackle hard problems for clients who need a targeted, senior team to come in and provide specific solutions. Our customer base has expanded into the IoT and data science spaces due to our ability to develop hardware and software rapidly in parallel. Our projects in this domain have ranged from data acquisition and alerting for industrial power systems to automated self-pour beer taps.

As the Vice President of Finance, some of your accountabilities will be, but not limited to:

  • Lead strategy and execution across all financial functions, including: Accounting, Accounting Operations, FP&A, IR, Treasury, Tax, and Strategic Planning
  • Lead financial forecasting and reporting initiatives including all facets of non-GAAP and GAAP financial statements and company cash flow.
  • Develop a robust annual and long-term business planning process. Ensure alignment between strategy, business and financial planning. Includes developing policies, process, timelines, cadence, tools, and communication.
  • Drive annual financial planning cycle and semi-annual business reviews.
  • Assist division-heads in creating division-level budgets
  • Create world-class organizational efficiency/performance tracking. Monitor and maintain metrics pertaining to staffing levels, KPIs, OKR’s, expectations, and recommend appropriate pivots as needed
  • Create empirically-based accountability by driving performance analytics and related-reporting into key areas of the organization.

How You’ll Be Compensated

We believe in a transparent, fair compensation structure and have developed our own open salary formula. Depending on your skill and experience, you can expect your base compensation to be $120,000 upon joining the company. We also offer performance bonuses, a generous maternity/paternity leave policy, 33% 401K matching, and numerous other employee benefits including reimbursement up to $1000 for home office equipment + $200 each additional year and $250 monthly for either gym memberships, telephone, internet and/or coworking space.
