The Vice President Food and Agribusiness Operations leads a group of teams who perform commercial lending and associated loan administration functions; works closely with leaders within the division to achieve business goals and objectives; and drives efficient, scalable business processes, while optimizing the use of technology to maintain effective controls and measuring performance.

About Food and Agribusiness

The Food and Agribusiness division is responsible for servicing the Association’s largest complex customers. The portfolio includes Commercial Ag originations direct to borrowers, including those where Farm Credit Mid-America may be the administrative agent, as well as interests in multi-bank syndications and participations, and other debt instruments.

The Operations team supports the day to day operations of loans pertaining to niche industries that require unique handling and industry knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

The Vice President Food and Agribusiness Operations LEADS leaders and others by:

  • Being accountable for the performance and results of an organizational function
  • Forming policy in area of responsibility
  • Defining team operating standards and monitoring adherence to essential procedures
  • Leading and mentoring others, setting team’s direction and deploying resources
  • Exercising management authority in performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, and other employment decisions
  • Achieving results by leading others of their team, as well as influencing and collaborating with team members in other areas of the organization
  • Maintaining technical expertise, business and industry knowledge and process development capabilities
  • Modeling organizational values, encouraging a shared vision and holding their teams accountable for culture preservation and growth
  • Owning the centralized Operations team in the Food & Agribusiness division
  • Developing leaders that lead teams passionate about growing departmental capabilities through performance mentorship and effective goal setting.
  • Aligning team and individual goals with Association and Divisional goals of sales production, loan quality, customer selection and financial results
  • Contributing in the development of departmental strategy and implementation of specific plans for the overall customer experience and sales delivery for the division.
  • Setting and reviewing metrics for database accuracy and maintenance, compliance, and credit administration

  • Aligning the activities of Operations with key strategic priorities of the business unit and Association.

QUALIFICATIONS and GRADING GUIDELINES

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Agriculture or an appropriate combination of education and experience; Farm Credit experience considered.
  • Six (6) or more years of experience in a financial services operations environment.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a leadership role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial operations: including lending practices, loan servicing, and multi-bank syndications and participations
  • Understanding of the Farm Credit System
  • Proven experience leading multi-functional operations teams
  • Knowledge of Project Management and Project Implementation concepts
  • Ability to strategically inspire and engage associates through change at all levels
