Description

THE ROLE:

Hillrom is embarking on a global, enterprise-wide transformation transcending beyond technology with a digital, IT, ERP implementation but also to include the finance function. With the overall goal of streamlining, becoming nimble and agile to drive corporate growth, the transformation is the springboard to the future.
To that end, Hillrom seeks a Vice President of Finance Transformation to support the global transformation strategy by providing strategic program leadership during a multi-year journey to drive the roadmap and successful execution to optimize the company’s Finance function. The end goal is the implementation of an operating model that drives optimization of the Finance function across the enterprise. S/he will develop and execute a strategy that helps make complex change easy for our organization, in addition to providing strategic guidance to enable our people.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading change management, as well as enablement, training and communications. This is an opportunity to impact the governance, direction and long-term strategy to best enable Hillrom’s finance function. The leader will also represent finance during the IT digital transformation and ERP implementation.
The Position is responsible for:
  • Setting and executing a clear and impactful informational vision and strategy.
  • Driving alignment and active sponsorship with stakeholders.
  • Managing, and holding accountable, an internal team to aggressive timelines. Ensuring the implementation of project scope, budget, schedule and quality by facing and addressing change resistance with personal and leadership resilience.
  • Accountability for realizing value from implementing both quick wins and mid/longer term initiatives.
  • Leading and managing detailed, well formulated transformative project work. This leader will set and socialize a clear vision for the future state operating model, including a concise case for why change is required. The position will drive to operating model integration decisions among both business and functional stakeholders by partnering with business and functional leaders.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Vice President of Finance Transformation reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is a key member of the Finance Leadership team. The VP manages a team of 8 direct reports, 3 focused on the IT digital transformation/ERP implementation and 5 aligned with the finance transformation.

LOCATION:

The role is located at our global corporate headquarters in downtown Chicago, IL. Alternatively, the role could also be located at our largest facility in Batesville, IN. Relocation assistance will be provided.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • For this high-impact role, we seek a results-oriented, creative and strategic leader to define the overarching Finance function strategy and longer-term integration vision by influencing executive leaders, creating plans and implementing initiatives across organizational boundaries. S/he will work in partnership with other finance team leaders to articulate and socialize the case for change – why Finance and a more effective operating model is critical to our success as a growing global company.

  • Provides strong financial leadership and determines the overall direction and setting of financial and transformation priorities in order to meet needs of the functions supported. Supports long-term and strategic business decisions of the organization, providing input, analysis and recommendations on financial and business outcomes.

  • Key role for Hillrom’s ERP implementation working closely with the IT organization and implementation partners, and business subject matter experts and across functions. Provide recommendations and drive decisions critical for the success of the implementation.

  • Assesses finance structure, processes and reporting and develops processes to simplify, automate, or streamline, to enhance effectiveness and efficiency. Utilizes technology to improve core finance functions and analytics.

  • Identify opportunities for profit improvement including enhancement to operational processes, reviewing pricing protocols for operational / administration support and rationalizing non-value add solutions and / or duplicative solutions / processes

  • Assists in the development and execution of centralization strategies including, automation and RPA opportunities

  • Initiates and leads special projects related to business unit performance, M&A, and other strategic opportunities, and provides thought leadership on an approach to analyses.

  • Develops and measures success criteria for operational initiatives including direct and indirect (e.g. stranded cost implications) ROI analytics.

  • Leads, directs and develops financial staff, to ensure financial practices are conducted accurately and compliantly with regulations, laws and standards.

  • Evaluate processes to ensure efficiency, compliance, and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. Make recommendations to policy or procedure changes as needed

  • Insures compliance with existing financial, security, and IT policies and procedures. Recognizes and leads policy change efforts where existing policies or procedures hamper the efficient and effective delivery of business value.


Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, CPA a plus

  • Minimum 15 years of related finance experience, with experience in process improvement and transition from manual to systemic processes for a $2B – $4B company highly preferred; experience in any industry will be considered, private or public company

  • ERP implementation experience preferred

  • Demonstrated experience and previous success leading transformative organizational work

  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders, manage competing agendas and priorities, and translate complex information across functions

  • Results-focused, analytical approach with a strong customer / client service ethos

  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of comfort with data and financial systems

  • Ability to utilize financial analysis capabilities to advise the business on achieving financial and productivity goals

  • Ability to identify and break down complex issues and resolve in a simplistic manner using available resources, information, and knowledge of the business

  • Strong project management skills with ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage, manage and influence team members and senior stakeholders

  • Ability to build relationships with business leaders and influence and advise key decisions
