Vice President, Admissions & Field Operations

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), formerly UMUC, seeks a Vice President of Admissions and Field Operations (VP) within the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management. Reporting to the Senior Vice President & Chief Enrollment and Marketing Officer, the VP is responsible for servicing inquiries, applicants, community colleges, and corporate partners to grow new student enrollment by improving the student experience and providing stellar customer service. This will be accomplished through executing process improvements as well as training and coaching representatives to engage prospective students and our alliance partners. The VP will compliantly manage and lead the department to oversee growth in stateside markets and develop strategic partnerships with community colleges and other identified institutions. The VP will have about four (4) direct reports and oversee the Regional Center Operations and Field Operations to strategically schedule hybrid classes and field events to best serve our student needs.
Other key responsibilities include:
- Develops the Admissions team to provide best-in-class service using a consultative approach
- Ensures conversations are compliant and all leaders are providing coaching and feedback by regularly conducting observations and coaching to improve student interactions
- Guides and directs leadership practices to foster a positive, inclusive, high performing environment that is compliant with all regulatory policies for both 100% remote and onsite admissions teams
- Leads high school (via community college alliance) and community college program by developing relationships with key leaders, and conducting events to promote transfer opportunities to UMGC
- Leads field program to service corporate and community college partners by managing a team to generate interest at events, servicing inquiries and applicants
- Leads CLS-specific Success Coaches to work with students from time of interest through graduation
- Develops and executes strategies for enrollment growth and student success at regional site locations
- Implements and optimizes student success and service processes to drive total student growth by improving all contact points with students from the time of inquiry through the first stage of class
- Manages performance in a compliant fashion by establishing effective performance metrics and coaching to behaviors to positively affect results
- Structures the workflow and staffing within budget to provide the highest level of student service
- Plans and implements change management processes (systems, business process, staff training, and communications) to ensure successful business transformations
- Collaborates with other departments to increase use and efficiency of technology in fostering new student success and enrollment growth
- Partners with Advising, Office of the Registrar, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts to develop shared strategies to exceed new student enrollment objectives and first term student success

Required education & experience: An earned Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; five (5) years of experience in mid-to-upper-level management working with remote and site-based teams including at least three (3) years in higher education at an Assistant Vice President level or above; online higher education experience with a significant, proven record of leading successful, high-performance, remote and site-based enrollment teams; significant experience leading large cross-functional teams in a non-matrixed environment and gaining buy-in across all levels of an organization from senior executives to individual contributors.
Preferred education & experience: An earned Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning; the ability to work in ambiguity, particularly relating to higher education regulations and compliance; proven ability to lead the implementation of complex projects from vision to successful launch; ability to interact and communicate with all levels of an organization, including senior management, and to propose recommendations in an articulate fashion; ability to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment; an analytical and results-driven orientation, including the ability to establish and improve metrics, processes, and associated performance behaviors.
