Division: Materials and Structural Analysis Division – Electron Microscopy
The Semiconductor Business Unit within Thermo Fisher Scientific Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD) provides valuable workflow solutions for yield and failure analysis of semiconductor devices. The core of our offerings are solutions for sample preparation and 3D imaging and metrology deployed into semiconductor labs and fabs. These workflows combine different preparation and imaging technologies with increasing levels of automation.
How will you make an impact?
The Strategic Marketing Director develops the expansion opportunities in current and future markets, identifies new/future market agendas that translate into measurable and sustainable MSD profit, translates these opportunities into a vision for long range planning consistent with corporate business objectives. This position will identify global and regional market trends, identify key needs, map the key decision makers, understand the money flow and funding mechanisms, forecast future capital spending. From this analysis, the position will create strategy for new market entry for metrology and defect workflow solutions, and identify potential partners for strategy, develop partner relationships and manage for business growth, develop and maintain list of MSD key accounts for new markets, and work closely with product marketing managers and sales to position MSD solutions with partners and potential end customers.
What will you do?

Growth Planning: Providing a forward-looking growth plan for the business. Recognizing external trends and opportunities; thinking through complex implications, to identify and target new market opportunities.
Market Analysis: Providing clear and actionable segmentation models about customers and markets. Connecting the market segmentation to the roadmaps, strategy development, product definitions, and competitive analysis.
Market Development: Providing clear and actionable segmentation models about customers and markets. Connecting the market segmentation to the roadmaps, strategy development, product definitions, and competitive analysis.
Competitive Analysis: Anticipating competitive threats or opportunities. Compiling valuable competitive intelligence that facilitates compelling value propositions differentiating MSD products and services from competitors.
Customer Voice: Possessing a comprehensive understanding of customer needs and priorities across the purchase and use cycle and using this to provide accurate and actionable customer voice to guide Semiconductor decision making. Using the customer mindset to generate solutions that drive customer value and Semiconductor profit.
Business Planning: Guide Strategic Long Range Planning (STRAP) process. Work closely with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure that long term business objectives are met. Aligning investments to portfolio strategy, monitoring execution to plan, identifying trends and threats, and utilizing findings to advise and influence internal processes and allocation of investment for current and anticipated market needs.
Portfolio Management Setting a clear agenda for meeting emerging customer needs based on a clear understanding of highest-impact customer priorities and changing marketing dynamics. Steering Semiconductor portfolio to enable our customers to support the industry roadmap.
How will you get there?
- University degree in a relevant scientific field is required. Strong preference for the combination of an MBA and advanced scientific degree in materials science or related electron and ion microscopy fields.
- Minimum of 12+ years marketing or sales management experience in a high tech environment related to semiconductor failure analysis and or fab or lab based process control solutions.

Domain Experience in the theory and use of analytical instrumentation technologies and related modern commercial application techniques. This position requires in depth understanding of customer use cases.
Preference for good contact with customers in markets specific to commercial or academic research. - Experience in interacting with highly-technical customers and customer groups in a broad variety of forums from trade shows to live engineering demos.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences is critical to the success of this position.
- Proven experience in developing business cases and successfully managing business objectives.
- Willing and able to travel internationally (25 – 40%)
