ASM Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an immediate opening for a Senior Operations Manager at the Huntington Convention Center of Cleveland and Global Center for Health Innovation. The Senior Operations Manager ensures the facility is safe, clean and running efficiently. This individual will work closely with the Director of Operations and Chief Engineer to ensure that OSHA standards and Corporate directives are being met or exceeded. Additionally, the Senior Operations Manager improves processes, ensures adequate recordkeeping, and monitors budgetary control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Analyze processes and procedures to reduce inefficiencies and redundancies. * Assist in the process of writing and reviewing standard operating procedures. * Research and track SBE/WBE/MBE usage for contracted services. * Assist Director of Operations in the tracking, updating, and renewal of contracts. * Manage and effectively implement SMG marketplace us * Oversee, develop and ensure that green practices and policies are upheld and documented in an accurate and timely manner. * Coordinate the Operations activities with other Center departments and show related service providers and contractors. * Plans, assigns, and directs work. * Maintain effective and productive relationships with union, non-union staff, clients, service providers and all other persons present at the Center while maintaining a professional appearance at all times. * Develop content and provide training to staff on the various SMG safety programs and ensures adherence to applicable OSHA regulations. * Oversee the maintenance and recordkeeping of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on all products and ensures proper SDS labels and warning are posted. * Carries our responsibilities in accordance with SMG’s policies and applicable laws. * Develop, record and implement preventative maintenance programs for operations designated equipment and work using the facility Preventative Maintenance Software (Altum). * Provide clear, concise and timely communication of directives to staff and other departments. * Represent Operations Department during internal and external planning meetings. * Work closely with the Director of Operations in the preparation and negotiation of Service Agreements. * Assess ongoing performance and participate in annual performance appraisals of Operations management. * Oversee the event activity associated with housekeeping, setup and general non-mechanical maintenance. * Review contracts, event information, and floorplans for compliance with facility rules and regulations regarding safety and egress. * Plan and direct outside service providers work to assure compliance with contracts, event schedules and safety requirements. * Utilize event management software to extract reports and enter data regarding center events. * Assist Director of Operations in servicing the GCHI Tenant Partners. * Ensure compliance of all policies and procedures through site walks during building activation. * Complete pre- and post-event walkthroughs for all events to document damages and possible safety concerns. * Serves as Manager on Duty during large events. * Perform other duties or special assignments as required. Education and/or Experience * High School Diploma or equivalent required. * Bachelor’s Degree required. BA in business or hospitality management preferred. * 2 years’ management experience, preferably within a similar facility or in a similar role. Skills and Abilities * Excellent communications, customer service and interpersonal skills. * Excellent organizational and supervisory skills. * Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills required; ability to interact with all levels of staff. * Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic. * Ability to work with limited supervision and as a team member. Computer Skills * To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office. Other Qualifications * Irregular hours and minimal land and/or air travel may be required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. * This position performs duties and responsibilities inside and outside the Center, thus subject to occasional, mildly adverse conditions such as warm/cold and moderately noisy conditions within various Center areas during pre- and post-event set-up. * This position requires walking the facility and grounds, climbing, and kneeling. * Exposure to cleaning chemicals, heavy machinery, motorized vehicles and loud noise. * Position requires the occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs. * Hours dictated by events and housekeeping schedule which vary by event. * Work hours are based on events and housekeeping requirements; hours vary by event and may include irregular, extended hours including weekends and evenings.
