Overview

HarperCollins Christian Publishing is looking for a catalytic visionary marketer to lead, plan and manage the marketing activities for the company’s growing Online Bible Study platform at FaithGateway.com and StudyGateway.com, the company’s Direct-to-Consumer divisions. This person needs to be a strategic and tactical leader with experience in marketing positioning, consumer messaging, media planning and buying, social media strategy, event or eCommerce sales, budgeting, and performance reporting/analytics.

Responsibilities

Communications: verbal | copywriting | marketing messaging | relationship management
  • Strong copywriting skills needed for traffic and conversion pages; writing marketing copy, headlines, subject lines, sales offers, and calls-to-action;
  • Works in partnership with authors, agents, editors, vendors, retail sales and other outside parties, along with internal team members.
Marketing: strategic acumen | flawless execution | project management | traffic & conversion strategies | graphic design
  • Serves as the primary strategist for Online Bible Studies;
  • Plans, develops, and executes marketing strategies that include high degree of complexity (including marketing positioning, consumer messaging, media planning and buying, social media strategy, event planning, traditional and digital marketing, etc.);
  • Ability to identifying target audiences and consumer triggers with campaigns that engage, inform and motivate an action.
  • Works with internal sales teams and publishers to deliver sales expectations.
  • Management of the CRM/participant data in Silverpop to improve retention and drive new registrations.
  • Responsible for A/B testing on creative, landing pages, advertising, conversion, and more.
Performance Analytics: monitor | interpret | report | take action
  • Tracks and reports marketing and media activities, analyzes marketing campaigns, and makes recommendations for adjustments and improvement based on those results;
  • Responsible for measuring and reporting on the performance of all digital marketing campaigns against pre-defined goals (ROI and KPIs);
  • Manages budget development and expense projections for assigned studies, media buying, and contracts with outside vendors.

Qualifications

Work Experience: 5-6 years in marketing (consumer products, content-related products) or in a related field, such as events, publicity, communications, eCommerce sales, or women’s ministry required;


Education:
B.A. in Journalism, Communications, English, Media Studies, Marketing, or Design


Industry Knowledge:
Solid understanding of marketing and consumer behavior principles. Well-versed in digital marketing trends/best practices and social media marketing/ media planning and buying. Firm grasp of marketing best practices in email marketing, content marketing and/or eCommerce. Knowledge of trends in audience engagement, lead generation, sales funnels, conversion strategies and content marketing. Prior book publishing or women’s ministry experience not a requirement but is a plus.

  • Must be able to work independently under tight deadlines and possess the skill to set priorities and problem solve.
  • Strong computer skills necessary, especially Microsoft Office. Experience with InDesign, Photoshop, and other Adobe Creative Suite applications is a plus.
  • Experience with eMail platforms (Silverpop, MailChimp, etc.) is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript is a plus
  • Certified in Google Analytics and knowledge of data analysis and reporting
  • Experience in planning and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns and Facebooks Ads
  • Up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in digital marketing
