The COO Planning Office is responsible for analyzing complex business problems, providing insight to the Merchant Solutions Chief of Staff and Global Operations Lead.

A consultative approach to working with senior executives, partners and leaders throughout the business is essential to solving critical business challenges, providing strategic unbiased and objectives advice to continually improve customer service and deliver results. The successful candidate will play a key role in the development and design of complex projects focused on strategy and business process improvement. Projects are typically cross-functional in nature and have high visibility across the organization. Projects will include a mix of business and Go-To-Market strategy, line of business operations, and process improvement initiatives with goals of improving business performance, customer experience, and driving financial results.

The Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Identification, analysis and interpretation of complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers.
  • With an analytical mind and pragmatic approach to data, he/she will identify emerging trends in the market to make recommendations for new approaches. The datasets he/she creates and utilizes will be used for strategic planning and forecasting for the business, giving this person an active role in the way Merchant Solutions continues to improve business.
  • Consultative approach to working with senior executives throughout the business to solve critical business challenges as part of the job description.
  • Creates formal networks with key decision makers to influence outcomes and serves as internal/external spokesperson for Merchant Solutions Chief of Staff and Global Operations Lead as required
  • Constructs forecasts, recommendations and strategic/tactical plans based on business data and market knowledge, with analysis of data and in-depth evaluation of various factors
  • Creates specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements
  • Generally leading to increase efficiency of internal client processes or functions
  • Ensures visibility and control of key metrics, trends, forecasts with early warning mechanisms in place
  • Ability to effectively articulate business opportunity and/or utilization
  • As an expert in the field, uses professional insight in developing resolution to critical issues that impact delivery and success of future concepts, products or technologies
  • Exercises wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments
  • Directly produce datasets and reports for analysis using system reporting tools
  • Having wide-ranging experience, uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel
  • Escalation of issues relating to project delivery, client and colleague experiences
  • Work closely with Leadership Development team to ensure we continue to develop and improve organizational health
  • Work closely with HR Lead to ensure talent and succession development is centric to deliver all objectives
  • Work closely with Corporate Comms Lead to develop, improve and execute on employee engagement strategy
  • Work closely with Finance Lead to ensure tight control of operational costs
  • Plan and lead weekly staff meetings, quarterly senior leadership meetings, offsite events, annual planning, town halls, employee forums
  • Prepare materials and talking points for Quarterly Business Reviews, mid/end year achievements, performance objectives, monthly metrics & dashboard
  • Maintain and develop Global Operations intranet site and organizational charts

Qualifications:
Typically requires consulting background with a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 2 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with equivalent experience
