The Regional Vice President Food and Agribusiness is primarily responsible for leading sales staff in effective and efficient delivery of quality sales and services through mentoring in sales, credit decision-making and maintaining acceptable credit practices.

Travel: 25%-50%

About Food and Agribusiness:

The Food and Agribusiness division is responsible for serving the Association’s largest complex customers. The portfolio includes Commercial Ag originations direct to borrowers, including those where Farm Credit Mid-America may be the administrative agent, as well as interests in multi-bank syndications and participations, and other debt instruments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the Food and Agribusiness sales team in serving internal and external customers by providing an efficient and reliable customer experience relating to loan approvals, credit support and processing agribusiness loans & servicing requests, while maintaining sound loan quality and credit administration.
  • Leading the team in achieving portfolio growth goals while determining ways to deliver value beyond the customer’s capital needs.
  • Exercising management authority in performance reviews, pay decisions, recruitment, discipline, and other employment decisions
  • Achieving results by leading others of their team, as well as influencing and collaborating with team members in other areas of the organization
  • Maintaining technical expertise, business and industry knowledge and process development capabilities
  • Developing processes and programs that promote an understanding of and positively contribute to the continuous improvement of the customer experience.
  • Modeling organizational values, encouraging a shared vision and holding their teams accountable.
  • Mentoring the Food and Agribusiness Vice Presidents to achieve desired growth, credit quality, credit administration, and financial results.
  • Monitoring quality of loan portfolio and reporting to Senior Vice President Food and Agribusiness, analyzing of specific adverse credit trends, risks or problems.
  • Adjusting and executing functional or departmental business plans and contributing to the development of functional or departmental strategies in order to meet Association objectives.
  • Serving as association resource to provide sound and appropriate credit decisions and to work with AVP and/or VP of Food & Agribusiness and Food & Agribusiness Analysts to negotiate the loan that is best for the customer and the association.
  • Providing support in quality sales through large and complex loan analyses; team customer calling; and occasional prior approval for loans outside of analysts’ authority.
  • Coordinating with cross-functional leaders to make recommendations or solve problems.
  • Working with teams to establish best practices for working with retail offices during the agribusiness loan processes
  • Recommending, implementing, and administering regulations, policies, and procedures in relation to credit and operation objectives.

Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in business, agriculture or related field. At least ten years of progressively responsible agricultural credit experience, and at least five years in a leadership role or having proven leadership capabilities.
