The Regional Plant Manager will be part of the Product Delivery team and the Regional Management Team to ensure buildings are manufactured and delivered according to Morton Buildingâs safety and quality standards. The Regional Plant Manager will be responsible for several departments within the facility including Production, Shipping/Distribution, Fabrication, Maintenance, and Office divisions.The Regional Plant Manager will be part of the Product Delivery team and the Regional Management Team to ensure buildings are manufactured and delivered according to Morton Buildingâs safety and quality standards. The Regional Plant Manager will be responsible for several departments within the facility including Production, Shipping/Distribution, Fabrication, Maintenance, and Office divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains safe operation of the Manufacturing Plant and Delivery functions
- Coordinates safety and procedural training for employees including scheduling monthly training sessions and identifying important training topics
- Works with the Regional Construction and Regional Sales Managers to provide positive construction experiences for the employees and customers of Morton Buildings
- Serves the customer and crew demands consistently
- Establishes and maintains correct and adequate inventory levels of all inventories stocks and supplies for the facility. This is accomplished by direct purchasing and through close interaction with corporate purchasers.
- Handles supplier inventory functions in coordination with Purchasing
- Works as a team with other plants and departments to help maintain standard operating procedures
- Carries out all plant hiring and maintaining adequate personnel numbers according to shifting needs
- Conducts interviews, performance reviews and makes final hiring decisions
- Determines expansion and reduction needs with regards to machinery and equipment at the plant facility
- Maintains constant awareness of safety, efficiency, on-time delivery, quality & profitability of the plant and displays flexibility and out of the box thinking capability to solve problems
- Communicates clearly and frequently with internal departments and departmental directors, including HR, Purchasing, Design Services and Finance departments
- Exhibits customer service focus with an emphasis on quality and timeliness
- Performs analysis and adheres to MBIâs profit-loss statement to ensure costs are in line with projected budgets
- Creates and maintains a teamwork environment to support corporate objectives
- Displays leadership capabilities concerning all operational aspects of the plants and gaining employee buy-in
- Willingness to work regular overtime and off-hours as needed
- College coursework completed or equivalent work experience as a manufacturing and/or plant manager preferably in the construction industry.
- Minimum 5 years supervisory and/or management experience
- Purchasing and inventory management background and experience
- Experience with maintaining inventories and manufacturing processes through ERP/MRP system input and manipulation is a plus.
- Post frame construction industry experience highly desired
- Proven process improvement efforts and results achieved
- Lean manufacturing experience a plus.
- Promotes teamwork and demonstrates natural leadership skills
- Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
- Displays mechanical aptitude for repair and maintenance of equipment
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work on your feet as required
- Logistics experience with private fleet and/or truck load carriers is a plus
- Microsoft Office skills including Outlook E-mail, Word, and Excel are required
- Working knowledge of OSHA, EEOC and DOT regulations
- Displays dedication and enthusiasm to manage a plant as if it is your own small company
