Responsibilities

  • Understands the company’s vision, mission, and strategy; understands business unit objectives and sets/accomplishes individual performance goals accordingly.
  • Supports 15+ branches that are average in terms of size and profitability among BlueLinx facilities.
  • Ensures Sales Leads obtain applicable training and development opportunities to enhance performance, development, and contributions to the company.
  • Evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase sales effectiveness / profitability. Assists in developing sales plans and budgets for achieving sales goals. Addresses non-performing accounts and products.
  • Manages inventory requirements for existing customer programs and support proper inventory levels for new products, programs and growth. Initiates and enforces pricing policies / pricing execution.
  • Coaches sales representatives in identifying / prospecting new sales opportunities with new and existing customers for engineered wood products (EWP). Responsible for leading sales representatives to improve profitability, product penetration and product mix with all customers.
  • Ensures Engineered Wood Product (EWP) Sales Leads regularly plan and achieve individual / team objectives. Responsible for following up on a frequent basis to ensure activities align with objectives.
  • Conducts joint sales calls with sales representatives to identify opportunities and maintain / build customer relationships, dealer and builder (including sales representative coaching / mentoring).
  • Manage Large “A” Customer relationships.
  • Coach Sales Leads on commercial projects (prospecting, take-offs, value-engineering, bidding and closing).
  • Addresses non-performing accounts and products.
  • Gather and record competitive pricing as well as service levels in each market.
  • Organize group sales and software training as well as team building.
  • Regular communication with the General Managers and Regional Vice Presidents.
  • Regularly scheduled travel/customer visits with the Sales Managers.
  • Provides periodic market reports to the organization.
  • Recommends product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Resolves sensitive customer issues.

Qualifications

Sales experience, knowledge of product pricing, purchasing, account management, warehousing, transportation, safety, business development, customer service and support. Financial acumen (specifically financial statements), strong analytical skills (both qualitative and quantitative). Planning, negotiation, decision-making, innovation, change management, persuasiveness and strong interpersonal skills. Teamwork, ability to function well at different levels in a team environment. Territory management and target marketing skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities, sense of urgency, innovative, problem solving. Customer focused. Consultative and relationship selling skills. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Software and relevant sales systems technology.
Years of experience: 10+ years of experience in related area of responsibility preferred. 7+ years with a MS / MA / MBA.
