In support of the Montana State University mission, University Information Technology promotes, develops, delivers, and facilitates the use of information technology services and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support project intake processes utilizing MSU’s governance methodology.
  • Facilitate project and status meetings throughout the project life cycle across the enterprise.
  • Manage and direct project work.
  • Prepare project status reports to stakeholders
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation.
  • Coordinate contracting and procurement of enterprise software applications across the 4-campus MSU enterprise, with the procurement office.
  • Plan and schedule program phases, deliverables, goals, and milestones using PMI standards and related tools such as Gantt charts and Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Define Risk and Issues per project; create and execute strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
  • Maintain project scope through the facilitation of effective Project Change Request processes.
  • Establish and execute communication plans.
  • Manage and track project schedule.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years or more of demonstrated experience in project management or coordination.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PMI project management standards and best practices.
  • Experience leading functionally diverse teams
  • Demonstrated experience managing information systems projects.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • CAPM, ITIL, CSM, CompTIA Project+, PRINCE2 PMP (Project Management Professional), CPMP, or similar project management certification.
  • Demonstrate experience working in the higher education industry.
  • Demonstrated experience with Banner or equivalent ERP development or integration projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs or organizational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience with portfolio and project management applications.
