Job Summary
The Director, Cement Procurement is responsible and accountable for all procurement activities relating to the cement business in CEMEX USA. The job entails defining and executing the procurement strategy for the cement business. The Director is responsible for a team on managers who will execute the agreed strategy at a local level.
Job Responsibilities
- Creating and executing the procurement strategy
- Managing the procurement activities required for the annual maintenance forecast and budget in conjunction with cement operations
- Guarantees flow of information and effective communication between Procurement, Operations and Maintenance.
- Development of vendors, including LCC, to support the business
- Responsible for management of plant wharehouses
- Responsible for fulfillment requirements of goods and services in a timely manner
- Responsible for inventory reduction initiatives
- Operating as part of the Procurement Senior Management Team and an extended part of the Cement Operations Senior Management Team
- Training and development of the cement procurement team
Degree level of education and with a minimum of 5 years experience in a procurement or cement operations role with at least 2 years of direct line management experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Cement product and materials knowledge
- Knowledge of the cement production process
- Able to apply supply chain management concepts
- Understands external customer requirements and their impact on internal customers and suppliers
- Deep knowledge of SAP functional processes and systems (maintenance, inventories and purchasing modules)
- Understanding of the CEMEX Procurement Process
- Capability to work extended hours as necessary
- Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
- Frequent travel with overnight stays as necessary
- Some exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location
- Job involves sitting most of the time with walking or standing for brief periods of time.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to communicate to employees/visitors
