Full Job Description
The Paramedic Medical Director serves as a patient advocate by providing input and expertise to ensure the highest quality of education for ATC’s Emergency Management Technician (Paramedic) program and students.

  • Review student performance to assure adequate progress toward clinical competency.
  • Participate in EMT (Paramedic) Advisory Meetings
  • Review and approve patient care practices being taught to students.
  • Review and attest to the quality of medical instruction, student evaluation methods, and supervision delivered by the faculty.
  • To be available for mediation and participation in student testing, clinical and field experiences.
  • Attest that students have achieved the desired level of competency prior to graduation.
  • Maintain clinical, administrative, and education knowledge appropriate for an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT/EMS) education program physician medical director.

Must be a Physician licensed in ATC’s service area (Aiken, SC and Augusta, GA). Must possess a current knowledge of Emergency Care of acutely ill and traumatized patients. Must be familiar with base station operations to include communications with pre-hospital emergency units. Must be knowledgeable about EMS training programs and legislative issues regarding educational programs for pre-hospital providers. Possess current knowledge of EMS laws and regulations and EMS dispatch and communications. Once hired will be to attend the state EMS Medical Control Workshop and complete application for approval by DHEC.
