Job Summary:
The Manager of Operations – Output Solutions, a print and mail operation, is a key role in the overall management of manufacturing operations. The Manager is the business owner of identified manufacturing teams and is responsible for the health, capability, and output of those teams. Continuous Process Improvement efforts are a foundation for success in solving problems and improving capability. Engagement of and collaboration with other leaders for problem solving and solutions development is vital for accomplishment of objectives. Coaching and mentoring of team members are vital to their success accomplishing our customer’s needs.

Job Responsibilities:
- Enable manufacturing teams to provide superior service to our customers while remaining injury and defect free
- Conduct production planning and capacity analysis
- Engage team members such that they fully meet our customer’s needs without managerial intervention
- Use Lean concepts to transform operational capabilities to the advantage of team members and the accomplishment of Safety, Quality, and Productivity gains.
- Be a champion of continuous process improvement
- Conduct and lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action development and deployment
- Build and maintain process map(s) inclusive of all assigned operational functions
- Engage and support trainers for the development and advancement of team members
- Partner with Industrial Engineering with respect to equipment and process improvement support needs
- Collaborate with client-facing parties and sales leaders
- Collaborate with Development teams for the management of data streams
- Partner with technical support teams to assure they are fully servicing the needs of the machine operators
- Work to improve productivity and reduce CPWU (Cost Per Work Unit)
- Develop and manage an annual expense budget
- Provide monthly assessments of financial performance against budget, forecast, and cost per work unit goals
- Make recommendations regarding capital expenses including navigating new equipment trials and purchases
- Serve as escalation point for customer issues to minimize the impact and ensure the appropriate information to client services is provided
- Serve as an escalation point for negotiation of projects and issues prioritization
- Collaborate with client team leadership teams to ensure we deliver quality products and services which meet or exceed the client’s contractual business needs
Experience & Education:
- Experience engaging and leading a team through Root Cause Analysis, minimally via the 5 Why’s, preferably also via a Fish Bone analysis, then development and deployment of game changing Corrective Action
- Process mapping experience in a complex manufacturing environment, preferably via Visio
- Demonstrated successful deployment of Lean tools for consequential operational improvements
- Experience building and using analytical tools such as Excel for problem solving, decision making, and operational planning
- Prior responsibility producing performance gains with respect to Safety, Quality, Productivity, and employee engagement
- Development of business proposals and presentations
- Minimum 5-7 years of production leadership experience, at a supervisor or manager level required, preferably with print and/or mail industry expertise in a 24x7x365 environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience
- Lean or TPS a plus
