We are seeking highly skilled staff members to work as part of a team providing high-level support in a fast paced, demanding environment. The Laboratory Director will be part of a highly successful, fast-paced research group that focuses on clinical and basic research in perinatal medicine and related disciplines. The goal of this internationally recognized research is to develop novel diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventative strategies to reduce adverse pregnancy outcome, infant mortality, and handicap. The research agenda involves novel discovery technologies in functional genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and DNA analysis.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position will oversee lab/workspace issues, orders supplies, maintain inventory and anticipate needs, manage equipment orders, maintenance contracts and upgrades
- Work closely with other internal researchers; participate in original and ongoing research, the publication process and scientific meetings
- Perform animal handling, mating, and husbandry duties in a research environment
- Update and prepare standard operating procedures in the laboratory and animal facility
- Perform molecular biology experiments; ELISA, Flow cytometry, RT-PCR real time, Immunohistochemistry, etc.
- Present, analyze and discuss all the results
- Prepare and draft manuscripts for publication
- Assist in grant writing to PI and other administrative duties
- Additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in biology, business administration, or a related field
- MD/PhD preferred and required for a Research Associate position
- At least five years of experience in an academic or corporate research setting
- Broad knowledge of scientific principles, theories, and technologies applicable to biological sciences in general and Perinatology in particular
- Knowledge of management and organizational concepts, principles, and techniques with demonstrated expertise in research administration
