How will you make an impact?
Reporting to the Sr. HR Director of the West Region, the Site HR Director will provide leadership to a team of 7-8 site HR partners. This role will lead and partner across multiple business units and functions with a focus on aligning with the HR platforms, driving change management, and creating a consistent and positive employee culture.
What will you do?
- Partners with the site leadership team on strategies that shape and impact the Carlsbad site culture, engagement, and employee experience. Carlsbad is our largest US facility of over 2,000 employees.
- Acts as the primary site HR partner for a moderate size client group
- Attracts, hires, trains, develops and retains a team of HR professionals to meet business needs
- Accelerates HR partner development through both individual and group development actions
- Acts as escalation point for employee relations and performance management concerns
- Shares and leverages best practices from across the organization
- Evaluates site policies and practices and guides improvement or harmonization efforts
- Manages the flow of information and communications both from and to the site HR population
- Facilitates organizational diagnosis by using metrics to build talent and organizational capabilities
- Acts as a catalyst for change; provides guidance and best practices for organizational design, development and change management solutions
- Coaches HR talent on complex leadership and HR issues including development, engagement, and talent performance and issues that create a competitive advantage for the business
- Keeps abreast of industry, market and functional trends, and leverages these insights to develop appropriate business unit HR strategies and solutions
- Evaluates work requests from across the organization and determines prioritization in collaboration with the business and in alignment with the HR model
- Partners with US and Canada field leadership team and HR Center of Excellence (COE) owners in shaping appropriate and innovative HR solutions
- Ensures activities throughout the assigned sites are core, common and consistent
- Ensures fairness and organizational consistency with our values in everything we do
- Leads process improvement and continuous learning culture across sites and the broader field organization
- Leads special projects as assigned
How will you get here?
Education
- BA/BS required
- MA/MS preferred
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive Human Resources Management experience from a large multi-national company
- A minimum of 2 years as senior HR partner supporting executives in a regional or global environment.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Demonstrated people management/leadership capabilities. People management experience preferred.
- A strong track record for developing and coaching business and HR Professionals
- Experience as a strategic HR partner with credibility as a trusted advisor
- Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands on exposure to the full mix of HR functions in a global environment
- Must have ability to develop solid and positive professional relationships with senior leadership, subordinates and peers in a heavily matrixed environment
- Experience working with a variety of functions including R&D, commercial (sales, field marketing and service), marketing, product development, engineering, strategic planning, and operations
- A track record of positive results and an ability to show how his/her programs and initiatives have contributed to the growth and bottom line profitability of an organization while enhancing or driving cultural change
- Must have led/been directly involved in significant change management initiatives in prior roles
- Experience with Process Improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.)
- Self-motivated; bias for action
- Effective communication skills with proven ability to influence without direct authority
- Ability to use a high level of confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, discretion and empathy/understanding in a global environment across multiple cultures
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage short term deliverables concurrent with longer-term strategic milestones
