The Head of Financial Optimization and Modernization Analytics will drive the enterprise strategy, vision, goals and objectives on how we bring to bear our combined data, analytics, and data science skills to transform how we run operation processes and financial optimization across CVS Health. This executive-level leader will translate advanced data science and optimization skills into specific strategies to improve operational process, reduce inefficiencies, optimize customer service, and manage complex financial relationships to maximize margin and ensure seamless customer experiences based on how we manage pricing through the enterprise.

This individual will be a critical leader in how we can leverage complex data structures and advanced algorithm development across finance, operations, customer, and clinical systems to improve company profitability, reduce cost to serve, and be able to monitor, model, optimize, and improve our overall profitability of our customer contracts. You will lead a team that excels in deconstructing complex data, operational, and financial contracts to identify and the using artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to execute on opportunities to drive value across CVS Health. You will work closely with executive leadership of the Enterprise Modernization effort to define new opportunities and provide internal capabilities and expertise to define and deliver identified value streams.
Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver strategies to lead contract exposure for PBM pricing arrangements to minimize contractual exposure to client and pharmacy pricing guarantees, specialty brand guarantees while ensuring operational excellence and minimizing client and customer disruption.
  • Develop and deliver machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions to identify rebate invoicing discrepancies and rebate optimization to capture rebate optimization value.
  • You will partner with PBM Financial and Product leaders to define vision and roadmap for future underwriting and contract analytics and design of analytical systems and processes for flexible underwriting and contract management analytics to support evolving pricing structures in the PBM market.
  • This leader will develop analytic roadmap using advanced forecasting and machine learning to optimize customer experience processes, workflows, and workforce management. Work with Operations and Specialty leadership to optimize staffing and process management. Overall analytics leadership for the multi-year Elevate Care agenda that is budgeted to achieve annual EBIT goals for PBM Operations.
  • Executive lead for analytics across Enterprise Modernization work streams, including development of artificial intelligence use cases within operational and finance units across all CVS Health business units (CVS Pharmacy, Caremark, Aetna).
  • Develop opportunity lists and sizing opportunities, lead strategy and execution across end –to-end data, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
  • Provide overall support for the CVS finance organization to identify areas for financial innovation and optimization. Enable overall financial technology (fintech) roadmap to enable more rapid decision making and complex scenario and optimization analysis to improve margin and reduce costs across CVS Health
  • Own the development and execution of all aspects of the analytic strategy to drive $300M+ annual incremental EBIT. Includes providing analytic outcomes for corporate blue chip projects.


Required Qualifications

  • 12+ yrs. strategic analytic leadership with significant experience developing cutting edge analytic projects to support complex healthcare and retail objectives (or related industries) with shown experience leading strategy and execution across end –to-end data, analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

  • Forward-thinking analytic visionary in the fast paced world of machine learning and artificial intelligence who will advance programs to gain market leadership by informing and helping to shape data driven strategy implementation.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and complexity to take calculated risks to solve problems, forge new paths for growth, and achieve challenging goals. Demonstrated resilience and resourcefulness when faced with challenges and obstacles.
  • Confirmed experience leading large teams and developing talent.
  • Strong strategic business orientation: demonstrated strategic business leadership, identifying, quantifying, and pursuing new opportunities. This executive will have a high comfort with analytics and using them to make strategic business arguments.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills: capable of influencing and driving collaboration at all levels within the organization. Proven ability to influence key stakeholders as well as drive meaningful change and innovation.
  • The ideal candidate will have high emotional intelligence and an exceptional ability to collaborate and partner with other business teams and executives. Will act as the key liaison for strategy and execution of analytic priorities for the Retail Leadership team and key executives across the CVS and Aetna businesses
