Serve as the primary OIT liaison for all GD units to facilitate management and staff use of all required IT systems, services and support – regardless of what organization groups within OIT provide them. Maintain communication with all GD units on general IT needs/issues and coordinate activities of other GD IT team members and other OIT service teams to address GD unit IT needs. Lead, coordinate and report on the status of GD IT projects and initiatives. Assist and lead functional/business teams to define, scope and propose new projects and initiatives following standard project intake/proposal/scoping processes. Advocate, support and insist on adherence to the principles and processes of strong project management and software development.
In close coordination with the ESMS Development Manager, project managers, and BSAs conduct and lead the analysis, design, testing, implementation, operation and support of large, complex web-based and rich client-based administrative applications with widespread impact on campus. Enhance, maintain, develop new and modify existing information processing systems, integrations, data-feeds and reports using a variety of technologies including Java, ColdFusion, VisualBasic, and Transact SQL. Coordinate closely with the ESMS Development Manage to coordinate, lead and prioritize the work of developers. Duties include analysis, planning, documentation, design, programming, testing, securing, and implanting large, complex business applications. Work closely with users to design, support and maintain on-line functions, screens and reports. Requires staying current with developments in information technology concepts, tools, techniques and applications. Also requires staying current with policies, business practices and security guidelines, regulations, laws and policies.
Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to staff according to established policies and management guidance. Administers policies that directly affect subordinate staff. Recommends changes to department policies and practices. Identifies risks and responds accordingly. Provide priority setting and work flow analysis.
The Enterprise Student Management Systems (ESMS) Unit within the UCI Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides support for the systems and applications used by six large, complex and mission critical business units: Financial Aid and Scholarships, Financial Services, Graduate Division, Office of the Registrar, Summer Session, and Undergraduate Admissions. The support provided includes daily operational support, monitoring, incident management and troubleshooting; new development, maintenance, upgrades and enhancements to a diverse group of complex in-house developed applications, systems, integrations, data extracts and reports; and support for third-party software products and their integration with other systems.
